After driving past the Fish Grill on Pico, located on the Balcony at Beverwil, during our recent trips to Los Angeles, my husband and I decided to give it a try—and we’re so glad we did! This is a restaurant with a straightforward focus – great seafood – and it delivers!
The patio looked inviting, but we opted to sit inside, surrounded by an array of great historic fishing photos that I loved which matched the restaurant’s seafood theme perfectly. The history of fishing is fascinating if you take the time to study it!
The menu reflects their tagline, “Simply the freshest,” and they truly live up to that promise of fresh delicious seafood. We both tried the mesquite grilled red snapper with a baked potato and coleslaw, and it was a very fresh, flavorful, and a healthy option.
They also offer a wide variety of other seafood options, including grilled specialties like trout, ahi tuna, white fish and salmon as well as tacos, sandwiches, wraps, and salads. For something heartier, the fish & chips or southern-style trout look to be excellent choices, while the smoked salmon or grilled ahi salads would be perfect for lighter meals.
The restaurant was comfortably filled with restaurant fans, ranging from solo diners, couples to large families, and there was a steady flow of takeout orders. Despite the activity, the casual atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming, providing a nice sanctuary in a busy city. The friendly staff answered our questions patiently and ensured we had a very pleasant experience.
We were also pleased to see they offer catering, making it easy for groups to enjoy their fresh seafood at events or gatherings.
In the City of Los Angeles, where parking is very limited, their convenient parking in the downstairs garage with an elevator made it easy to get in and out and ADA accessible, too.
The restaurant is Kosher and closed on Friday evenings and Saturdays, a detail that reflects their commitment to quality and tradition.
The Fish Grill on Pico is a wonderful spot for groups, families, or solo diners, delivering top-quality seafood in a very relaxed setting. We’re already looking forward to...
Read moreWe ordered online through the website. There was no drop down for you to pick a time. I ordered food at 11:15 hoping Id be right over. Our appointment ran late. We got there 2 hours later. I asked politely if they could remake it since fish doesn't sit out fresh that long. I was met by the manager who scoffed at me, rolled his eyes and said " that's you problem. We made the fish. I can reheat it if you want" I said reheat fish that's been out for 2 hours? "Yes". I said you're going to make someone sick. He said " the owner wants like that" I said you'd rather a lawsuit for making someone sick than remake fish? He said "yes" some back and forth with the owner took place with the manager and the owner over the phone. The manager said "the owner will make another one but you have to pay again " Then the owner appeared. I explained about the app, the fish and how come we were late. I was met with " it's a loss on our end to remake the fish. You were late didn't let us know." Even if I had called the fish was already made. I had asked for a refund I was refused my offer. The owner said " the best I can offer is a 50% discount" We initially paid $60 for 1 salmon and 1 seabass. According to what was told I'd have to pay double what I paid for or pay $60 on top of the 50% discount! A total of $90! Either I coughed up $120 or $90 for $60 meals
I did not get a remake or a refund from this place. Certainly not customer friendly at all. Too bad bc we made huge purchases from here and they've lost a customer. Remember never bite the hand...
Read moreYou know that line in Field of Dreams where John asks Ray, “Is this heaven?”. I finished eating a salmon filet with cole slaw and rice just as Semisonic started playing softly from the kitchen (jk, it was actually some mariachi music the chef was belting loudly, but, alas basically the same thing). As I got up from the table, I looked around, and slowly walked up to the kid near the counter trying to shut the place down for the night. I looked him dead in the eyes and asked, “is this heaven?”, and he merely smiled and said, “no, it’s the Fish Grill”. Is this place as much of a legend as Field of Dreams? Maybe. Was it pretty effing good? Absolutely. I’m coming back. Tomorrow. And probably asking if they’ll just take me in and let me work out my remaining days on earth there, because, as John’s wife in the movie believes in the Church of Baseball, I am now a believer in the Church of...
