Taqueria El Tapatio — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Me and three co workers ate there on Friday, January 30, 2015. Two of us ended up getting severely ill for the next couple of days and as of Tuesday, February 3, 2015, we are both still sick, although it is now fading. We both ate some sort of beef dish that I cannot find listed on their online menu. The two that didn't get sick only ate Pastor Pork.

Due to this sickness, I was forced to stay at home on Saturday and Sunday and I was forced to call in sick from work on Monday as well. This is not small time sickness.

I've eaten there before no problem, but this last time will be the last time I ever eat at El Tapatio. Before this, this place would've gotten a 5 start rating from me, but, when you get so sick that you are sick for three days straight, and that someone else who ate the same thing is also sick, there's clearly something off about this restaurant and its food...

This is a cozy little spot and if you're lucky, a seat awaits you to enjoy some chips, bean, and salsa if while you wait for your food.

The salsa really doesn't add much heat unlike the blend at places like Taco Llama. It provides a little extra tang to your bites but that's about it.

The tortilla, which came from an unmarked bag, was warm and chewy after a little time on the flat top.

The burrito isn't overwhelming with rice and beans but is perfectly filling. There was plenty of meat inside of my regular burrito: asada, rice, beans, onions, cilantro, sauce.

Interestingly, you pay after you eat, which might be a testament to the faith they have in their regular customers and 1-time visitors. I didn't spend very long waiting for my order, so I ended up paying for the food pretty shortly after ordering in the end.

I wish they offered...

I wanna say that this restaurant is top notch !!!! The food is amazing !!! Burro the owners takes a lot of pride and time to make sure His customers are taking care of !!!! The Location is amazing with a lot of shops like the Canoga park knife trader witch is a amazing vintage military and self defense one stop shop !!!! Mike and Kim and Mike jr are amazing !!! But back to the tacos ..... TAPITIO IS THE BEST !!!! Weto and MAMAS AND Antonio TAKE CARE OF YOU OVER THERE !!!! The food is how it should be made!!!! And for the price you will be shocked !!!! Really affordable and filling !!!! Love you guys and keep up the good work!!! We take pride in what we have in our beautiful city of CANOGA PARK !!!!
