So with this restaurant I originally saw it on TikTok I wanted some gumbo they said they had the best gumbo in all of losangeles so I’m excited to try it I get there #1 there’s no free parking u have to either pay in there parking lot which is limited or find parking on the street somewhere. Which I did I parked about a block over and walked up to the restaurant they have I believe 2 handicap spots the restaurant itself was very nice clean very cozy feeling kinda classy. It was nice the atmosphere was friendly so I get seated within about 5 mins there wasn’t a lot of ppl there when I went so I go I set up my camera I’m live-streaming on my Facebook page. And I order the gumbo the big size was 45$ and literally I could not have been more dissatisfied and disappointed when it came out it came out in this big silver pot which was nice I don’t remember if they charge u separate from the rice but I dip in it to get a spoon full and I notice there giving these little crabs like the size of the soft shell crabs. I’m like …. Okay. Atleast a snow crab or something for 45$ ? And I believe there was only 1 in a half I don’t even think there was 2 crabs and so then mind u I’m live I still have the video on my page u can go look yourself so I go digging in like maybe they will make up for it with more shrimp then crab literally I believe I counted 8 shrimp in the whole pot don’t quote me I have to go look at the video again but I was pissed and then it gets worse I said well let me dig around maybe I’m missing it so now I get the to go bowls and now I’m digging it out on camera it literally was full of sausage just cut up sausages and the flavor was very basic no flavor maybe they had a bad day idk but that wasn’t it and then somebody said oh and they bread is to die for ….????? Mannnnn listen yeah it’s to die for that wasn’t ntn. But a toasted French bread with butter in it nothing special like I said I’m giving my honest opinion I tried to take some home to my step mom to have her try it because she’s from Louisiana and she said it was terrible we threw it out. It wasn’t worth it and I won’t be back but other than that my waitress was excellent the restaurant had a excellent atmosphere but the gumbo was a strong no for me unless u like sausage Gumbo with baby crabs and a little bit of shrimp with no flavor then this is right up ur alley but it’s a no for me and since I do food reviews for my YouTube channel I didn’t post it on there because it looked bad but I was live on my Facebook so...

Harold & Bell is a LA fixure in the Black community. I and 2 friends dined there about 3 weeks ago and I personally was unimpressed with my order shrimp and okra gumbo. Our server was a 19 year old that was friendly, yet not as attentive to our table. Maybe because he appeared to have been not only waiting tables but doing other duties. They seemed short on serving staff. My order lacked a certain taste that I enjoy so I thought some file' powder might have given it a bit more creole flavor so I asked our server for some file'. He wasn't sure if they had it but went to the kitchen to ask and came back saying they did not have it, well turned out he didn't know what file is and had asked the kitchen about fish. Well like I said he was only 19. Anyway the order was decent enough to eat. One friend had ordered something that included shrimps that appeared over cooked. We ended our meal with desserts. I ordered, at our server recommendation peach cobbler that he thought was one of their best desserts. It turned out to be one of the worst peach cobbler I have ever had. It was obviously reheated in a microwave and had no cobbler juice at all. The crust had lost its crispness due to being reheated in the microwave, at least that's what I suspected. When our server asked how did I and one my friend who also ordered the cobbler, liked it I gave him my honest assessment similar to what I said in this review. To make matters worse it was over priced. If I am recalling correctly, it was 8 dollars worth of nothing. Oh, before I forget, when we were first seated the background music was so loud I had to ask for it to be turned down. I hate to try to have conversations over loud music and we were not in a club even if we were seated near the bar. Thankfully the music was lowered without any push back. Anyway my experience at Harold & Bell was not the best, but again it was not the worst, that's why I gave it a 3...

We had my son's graduation from college dinner here. It was amazing. The ratings are from 1 to 10, 10 being best. I usually don't give out a 10. Starting at the bar I ordered a hurricane. I rated it a 9 it was strong and delicious. We then went to the back and they began bringing out the different entrees for our group of 15. The salad was so fresh I could smell the bell peppers and it came with house made ranch dressing I rated the salad a 9. Next up was the catfish nuggets delicious rating 9. I rated the macaroni and cheese at a 9. It was delicious and close to homemade. I'm not a seafood person so I rated the crawfish etouffee served with pasta at a 7. I rated the fried chicken at an 8.9 it was crisp delicious and outstanding. The red beans and rice are rated at a 8. It was above average and really deserved a higher score but I can't give every dish a 9. I rated the jambalaya an 8.7. It was outstanding and not over spiced. I would have given the mashed potatoes a 6. However the sauce\Gravy that came with it was so delicious I had to give it an 8. Then came the desserts. The beignets were fresh and warm but they were just okay. I gave them a 5. The bread pudding however was so delicious I have to give it an 9 but it deserved a 10. A lady named Desiree was our server she was a 10. She took care of 15 people by herself. I can't say enough about her. Overall the food was great and the service was great. I wish I had taken more pictures to provide for this review. This place may not have a Beverly Hills address but I am telling you the food is better than any place in the area of Rodeo Drive. Take a chance and try Harold and Belles you will not be disappointed I promise you! They turned a good night into a fabulous night no...

Harold & Belle’s has been a staple in Jefferson Park for over 50 years! I haven’t been there in over 10 years and decided to go. It was ok, not how I remembered. We got red snapper nuggets for starters (no photos) and they were fried to perfection, however could’ve definitely used more seasoning. I got the ‘Peacemaker’ po’boy (shrimp and oysters) with a side of mac and cheese. The po’boy was delicious but I had to send back the mac. It was not good. Very Disappointing coming from a black owned restaurant. I replaced it with a Caesar salad that was satisfying. My sister got the Jambalaya and she was very disappointed. She said it tasted like that used canned ravioli sauce. She took one bite and had to send it back. She was scared to send it back because I had sent back my mac and cheese, so I called the waitress over and had it sent back. Our waitress (cute Asian girl) was very sweet, attentive, and didn’t mind taking the food back. Then we saw a waitress use her bare hands to slice the buttered bread and place it in the basket to be serve. 😮 Our drink we’re delicious, but on the weak side. We ordered the ‘Bad and Boozy’. We also saw actors Garrett Morris (Martin Lawrence boss on Martin) & Bill Duke (cop in Menace II Society) who are regulars enjoying a meal directly across from us. Overall i give them three stars because they’re a staple in the community.
