Every Friday, I like to check out what’s hot and new on Yelp in the area, and that’s how I came across this new Thai spot. We decided to give it a try — it’s located behind Walmart, near the On & On. Honestly, we weren’t sure what to expect since the location’s kinda sketchy, but when we walked in, we were surprised. The place looks really nice inside it was way nicer than we expected. I think it used to be a pretty dingy Vietnamese spot, but they totally revamped it.
We got there around 6 pm, and there was just one other table seated. We ordered Thai tea, the roti curry appetizer, crab and shrimp fried rice, and the shrimp wonton soup. The roti and curry came out first, the roti was crispy, buttery, and perfect. The curry was super coconutty, definitely sweeter than I usually like, but still really good.
Next came the shrimp wonton soup. I grew up eating shrimp wonton in the 626, so my standards are pretty high that being said, I’ve never actually had it at a Thai place, so I wasn’t expecting much. But it really surprised me! Presentation was on point. The broth was a little lighter in flavor and the noodles softer than I’m used to, but still really good. I do wish they had red vinegar, instead, the server gave me hot sauce.
Just a little tip though, the hot sauces have no labels, so you have no idea how spicy they are. I added one to my soup and almost burned my tongue off. It was the spiciest thing I’ve had in a while… and I’m Korean!
Overall, everything was good, but the crab and shrimp fried rice was the best dish. They put a lot of real crab, and it was perfectly seasoned. Honestly, I’d go back just for that fried rice.
Each dish was around $20, which is pretty standard for Thai spots around here. I’m definitely going back, gotta try their...
Read moreI’m so happy to see more Thai restaurants opening up in the area, and Hidden Garden Thai Cuisine has quickly become my new favorite. The restaurant has a beautiful modern design with cozy lighting, making it a perfect spot for a date night or a nice dinner with friends. It feels a little more upscale compared to most local Thai spots, but still very welcoming. The staff are super friendly, attentive, and happy to explain the menu or make recommendations if you’re not sure what to order. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and plated with great attention to detail. You can really tell they use high-quality ingredients. The flavors are bold but balanced — not overly sweet or salty like some places. One dish you absolutely must try is the Mango Sticky Rice. Their version is unique because it has a hint of pandan flavor, giving it a fragrant twist that’s different from the traditional style. It’s one of the best mango sticky rice desserts I’ve had anywhere.
Quick tips: There’s plenty of parking in the plaza since Hidden Garden shares the lot with other restaurants and shops. Definitely save room for dessert — the pandan mango sticky rice...

Before I speak to the food, I want to compliment the service and the decor... Good date night spot if you want to impress with local knowledge (The Hidden Garden is actually "hidden" in a non descript strip mall)... Now on to the food...
I love Thai food, and the overall experience at Hidden Garden was top-notch. I've probably eaten at 50 Thai food restaurants across the US and Asia/Europe, and I'd put Hidden Garden at or near the top. A friend and I are in the Torrence/Carson area for the World Rugby 7's, and we were lucky enough to find this place. We went "family style" and ordered the duck curry (medium spicy), crab and scallion fried rice, and the Pad sa ew with chicken (wide rice noodles). Each dish was fresh, piping hot, and as flavorable as you can imagine.
If I lived in this area, this place would definitely be on my regular restaurant rotation... I do hate to "overhype" any establishment, but in this case, I'm not even sure my words do this place justice... Yes, it...
