When you are hungry everything taste’s good but the food here was an exception . There was nothing about this place that was even worth a compliment. Went in hungry and left out angry . Compared to Nepali restaurants in New York , I found them way overpriced . The ambience needs improvement as it just looks like ordinary Nepali “Khaja Ghar” . Even the Himalyan Yak at NYC which has live music and good ambience is priced cheaper than this one. One plate momo has 6 piece thats nearly half plate in Nepal . However more than the price the food was a disappointment . The chicken momo had a slight pungent smell indicating its not fresh and the mutton thali had no salad, papad or spinach . It was too hot even though I asked for not spicy. The vegetable was a shame , I could smell the burnt aromas that provided the curry bitter taste. And lastly the kheer was just rice with milk and sugar with tint of condensed milk not traditionally cooked kheer. This is not how a Nepali food should taste like. If you had ever had a proper thali you would be surprised as how this is compared to authentic one. It had plain naan just so that the plate wouldn’t look empty . Who keeps naan in thali ? Except for the samosa which was ok, rest of the food was UNAPPETIZING and it is in fact even lower grade then how a regular house cooked food would taste in Nepal. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED wont be back and would not recommend it to any authentic Nepali...
Read moreThis unassuming little strip mall restaurant next to a laundromat is serving up fantastic, authentic Nepalese and North Indian dishes. Do your taste buds a favor, ignore the imposing spiked gate parking lot, and come taste what Himalayan regional fare should taste like.
I haven't found momos since my street food diners in Delhi! The tomato cream dipping sauce is flavorful, but ask for some hot chili sauce to mix in - it will take it to a stellar level of complexity for the little steamed dumplings.
For dinner, I ordered the Okra and garlic naan. Amazing. If you can stand it at all, order your food with some heat. They can make whatever level you want, but just like with the momos, spicy really is a key part. I asked for a "7" and it was no hotter than a medium salsa. (I plan to go back and see if I can get something that will make me cry to feel like I am abroad again, maybe an "11".)
Unless you are truly gluten intolerant, order the naan. Seriously, spend the extra time at the gym if you have to, but order the naan. If you don't like butter glossing over your bread, ask them to hold the ghee, otherwise - dive in. The naan is so much lighter and more delicate than most Indian restaurant breads. The mix of elasticity in the thicker parts of the dough and oven crisped underside of the loaf, make this bread...
Read moreI had their mutton thali and it was the worst thali I ever had in my life.It was overpriced and the thali had only 3 piece of meat and the quality of the rice was also very bad it was like we were chewing plastic.
Replied to owners reply : first try to be professional you cant say dont come back to customer just because we made you realise how deep is your restaurant. Try to focus on improving, instead of losing a customer. Literally your food sucks. Rice was like a chewing plastic and thats the fact. I guess we expected more from a nepali restaurant. Dont give the bad quality food and spoil the image of Nepali thali for saving few bucks. I suggest you try some nepali food from texas DFW and get inspired. Aba ofcourse khana nai 5-6 chamchi jati diyesi 3-4 choti thapi halxa ni. Good luck never coming again.
Re reply: Nothing to say, afno image ra customer interaction kasto cha vanera afai public platform ma proof garirakhnu vayeko cha. With due respect, Just wanna say again, please dont ruin the image of Nepali Thali in foreign land to save...
