The first time I came here was for my Indian friend's birthday. And to be honest, I've returned here multiple times with friends. That day, I ordered the tandoori sizzle (which is just grilled, so it was a bit dry) and mango lassi, a mango and yogurt drink. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the lassi. I'm not a huge yogurt fan to begin with, so it didn't agree with my palette. The chicken was well flavored, though a bit dry. However, after sampling some of my friend's dishes, I realized that ordering the stew dishes was the best way to go.
Since then, I've been here once for the weekday lunch buffet (at $10) and multiple times for just dinner, in which I always order Chicken Tikka Masala ($9) and onion kulcha ($3).
The Chicken is cooked in a creamy spiced sauce, and it is absolutely delicious with rice or bread. the meal is pretty big, so I always take home leftovers. Watch out for your spiciness level though--I always feel like the medium is just a tad too spicy for my liking (and I can handle a decent amount of spiciness), so I can only imagine the hot.
For that like more variety (and a cheaper meal), I recommend the lunch buffet. It comes with naan and offers a variety of dishes for you to sample, as well as some salads and dessert. However, I found that the quality of the chicken tikka masala decreased slightly when being served at the buffet (not sure why), but it was nice to try some other dishes.
Overall, great food, intimate atmosphere, generous portions, close to campus and decent prices. Makes for a pretty...
Read moreExtremely rude attitude! They refuse service to you for bringing a complaint! I had bought a idli/dosa batter from them which turned out to be expired 7-8 months prior. When I brought the complaint to the lady (probably the owner), she not only refused a refund but refused the service itself to me! She took my shopping cart from me and asked me to get out. When I brought her the expired box to show, she said that she does not want my business and asked me to get out or else she will call the cops!! Let this sync in. She refused service to a customer for bringing a complaint and threatened to call the cops! They can manage to run a business with this kind of attitude because that is the only Indian store in the area and most of the international students have to depend on their service. Extreme lack of business ethics!
Edit :- The owner seems to have replied. Well if you buy fresh, then you should investigate why you had an expired batter instead of refusing service to your customers Lol! But after reading through all the 1 star reviews of your store, the rude behaviour of the lady seems to be a recurring pattern. I would suggest get treated for anger issues instead of shouting at your customers. This will help your business far more than calling your...
Read moreFood does not look bad. What gets me is the customer service. Never eaten here in my life but the lady who works there is unprofessional. I myself work in the restaurant industry. We constantly deal will many people but how you respond is what matters the most. I am currently doing uber eats, rasta another courier from grub hub waited 49 minutes for his order. But before the wait he asked politely of he can use the restroom. The lady said that it was broken, 30 seconds later told him that he had to buy something to use it. As if we are not delivering the food for them. When his food was ready for the customer she then proceeded to remove the order from the GRUBHUB section & did not allow him to deliver the food. Very unprofessional right?? I myself canceled the delivery order for that restaurant. Will not be a part of discrimination or dehumanization. We work hard during this time of crisis of covid-19, rasta himself is a machinery driver who is doing courier delivery to keep his life afloat, I'm a cook currently doing courier delivery as well to keep my life and family afloat risking our health so that business like Manas can reopen after this crisis.
