I gotta say, I hate leaving three star reviews. Especially when I know it could have been better.
Let's start with a positive. They have an easy-to-use online wait list and you can see your place on it. But no estimate on how long the wait might be.
I eat solo a lot because I travel for work. I checked in and they brought me to a wooden counter with boards separating me from my neighbor, facing a frosted glass window 18 inches away. Nothing like making your guests feel more isolated than they already do. A menu was on the counter, along with some water in a plastic cup.
Soon the window opens up and they take my order. I generally have tonkotsu ramen but I thought I'd change it up, so I got shoyu. It arrived soon and looked appealing, although there were only two pieces of chashu. I always pull some noodles out so you can see them. Nice thick noodles, perfectly chewy. (Thin noodles are also available by request I read somewhere).
But as I ate, I realized the broth tasted only of soy. No pork, no chicken. And really salty. Granted, I live in a household that uses very little salt, so I may be overly sensitive here. But you can see by my last picture of my meal that I never used my spoon. I've never before not luxuriated in my ramen broth. I guess there's a first time for everything. I also left a lot of noodles because of the strong soy sauce flavor.
The pork was good, just light by one piece (in my view). And the egg was perfect. But this is why only three stars for service.
The guy to my right was also solo. He arrived after I did, got his bowl of ramen just slightly after me, and paid and was gone while I still waited for my server to return. It's not like you can wave someone down from your cell. And the only thing separating me from the kitchen were some very thin curtains. Lots of banging and yelling coming through. (I looked into his cell after he left and saw that he didn't come close to finishing his bowl either).
Clearly HiroNori has some stellar reviews. If I'd stuck with tonkotsu this might have been a better one. But the stark atmosphere and poor service were still influencing factors. I see they've got other locations. I'll give one of them another shot with hopes for a...
Read moreMy recent visit to Hiro Nori Ramen Place left me deeply disappointed and frustrated with the overall experience. Despite being the only customers waiting to be seated, we were subjected to an unreasonably long wait that was both puzzling and aggravating. To our surprise, there were no other customers waiting at the time of our arrival. The restaurant appeared relatively empty inside, with plenty of available seating. Despite this, the staff made us wait for an extended period without providing any explanation or reassurance. Adding to the frustration was the behavior of the waiters. Instead of attending to our needs or inquiring about our well-being during the wait, they seemed engrossed in their own conversations, seemingly oblivious to our presence. This lack of attention and disregard for our time and comfort further highlighted the restaurant's apparent indifference towards its customers. As time went by, our patience wore thin, and we were left with no choice but to abandon our plans to dine at Hiro Nori Ramen Place. The unnecessary and prolonged wait, coupled with the lack of consideration shown by the staff, left us with a sour taste in our mouths and a feeling of being undervalued as potential customers. While I cannot comment on the quality of the food or the overall dining experience, the disrespectful and unprofessional treatment we received during the wait is indicative of deeper issues within the establishment. It is disheartening to witness such a blatant disregard for customer service, especially when the restaurant was not even busy. Based on this disappointing encounter, I cannot recommend Hiro Nori Ramen Place to others. The lack of respect for customers' time and the evident disregard for customer satisfaction make it difficult to believe that a pleasant dining experience would await anyone who chooses to dine there. I would strongly suggest exploring other options that prioritize customer service and value their...
Read moreThis was my first time trying HiroNori and I must say it was filling and comforting. I went for the vegan ramen and I was satisfied to say the least. The service was very lack luster, dry, and a little weird. This is based on my interaction with the gentleman that took my order.
Customer service is one of THEE most important things to me and I have walked out of a few restaurants due to this. There was no greeting as we entered the establishment, just a blank stare and "ready to order" immediately as we walked in. I tried engaging the cashier a bit by asking what he would recommend and what his favorite dish was? His response was "Anything" and "It depends" , after those responses I just proceeded forward with ordering. It totally killed the vibe and excitement I had because I've been wanting to try their ramen for a while.
I understand some people are not social or like engaging with people but if you're the first face I see upon entering a restaurant and your mood or personality is giving "I don't want to be here today", "I don't really care" blah, dry , weird, uncomfortable energy it is a TOTAL turn off and not a good look. Nonetheless, the food made up for the dry experience, the wait wasn't long at all and the food was hot...
