DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS JOINT!!!
I was looking for some food to pick up for me and my girlfriend on my way home, found this on Google from searching places nearby and decided to try em out. And boy, am I glad I did. When I got there, they had sold out of there chicken so they were closing early for the night, but the manager told me they had some of their fried chicken left that was already made up. I ordered the small bird box (I think I'm getting that right), which came with 4 pieces of fried chicken, one leg thigh breast and wing. I got half mild spice, and half hot spice (caution, the hot spice is VERY spicy, but has really great flavor. They use smoked habanero. If you enjoy spice, which I do, you'll love this). And, I also ordered fries.
Firstly, the chicken was cooked perfectly. Tender, moist, nearly fell off the bone. Everything you could want in some good fried chicken. The breading? Out of this world. Crispy, but not dry, well seasoned, and made me want to savor each bite. I had a bit of my girlfriends mild spice, which had some great flavor and the spice was indeed mild. The hot spice, as I said before was very spicy, but wasn't overpowering the overall flavor.
Secondly, the FRIES AND SAUCE. The fries were also cooked perfectly, crispy and perfectly seasoned. Whatever they put on them b*tches they doin it right cause man oh man were they good. The sauce was some of the best sauce I've had at a hot chicken place, if not the best. And I've tried A LOT of hot chicken places. Tangy, with lots of flavor.
Overall, this place pleasantly surprised me. I will return, and will recommend this place to friends. I highly encourage you to give this place a try. Trust me, this place blows the other places out do the water. And, the staff were all friendly and...
Read moreIn my hunt for the best hot chicken in the greater LA area I have ran across a lot of mediocre places. They had 4/5 star reviews but the chicken was some of the worse chicken I've had. So I was hesitant going to humble bird. The reviews were too good to be true, the prices were reasonable, and it was in a part of town that's saturated with mediocre food....a recipe for disaster but oh boy did I stand corrected! The menu is simple. Half chicken, full chicken, sandwich or nuggets. We got the melt(sandwich with a huge breast inside) and the 4 piece (half chicken) plus fries. For $16 you get a thigh, leg, breast, wing!. I got 3 medium and 1 hot. It was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the brine oozing out of the tender meat. The melt has a breast piece so if you don't like white meat don't go for the melt. The fries were Perfectly fried and seasoned too. I can't believe I'm saying this but for the price and convince humble bird can compete with howling rays and I'm gonna leave it at that. Enjoy....
Read moreNashville Hot Chicken joint. Fries are to die for- perfectly seasoned, not too salty; perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I got the nugs so can't judge the sandwiches or the bone-in chicken. I'd say 5 stars on the fries, 4 stars for the nugs- they're perfectly competently made with the kind of breading you'd expect for Nashville Hot Chicken, but nothing I'd go out of my way to have again. The fries on the otherhand... Oh, and the pickles are pretty good too. I also got a cookie which reminded me more of banana chips than banana pudding. I feel bad rating the food as only 4 stars because everyone at the shop was so nice. Even though they were technically closed at 8pm, but the doors weren't locked yet so they still let a lady order fried pickles. Everything is made to order, so anticipate a 15-20 min wait for your food. In fact, they don't take orders for bone-in chicken less than a half hour before closing. Very basic seating area, but...
