I had seen a few reviews online and was so excited to try these wings! I planned our afternoon early arrival from over an hour away so we could have lunch at Joey's.
We got there and discovered that you can only order at the front door and then sit outside at what it felt like their neighbor's tables? It was awkward.
However, I didn't care, I came there for the Good eats! So we ordered a dozen wings each for almost $18 which is pretty high these days. We then asked if we could order all flats instead of any drums because we both prefer the flats. There's always an up-charge for all drums, but I've never been charged for all flats before at any restaurant. However, there was an unannounced $3 up charge for that. We didn't see that until after we'd paid and sat down.
Again, I'm willing to overlook all things if the food is good!
The food was not good!
It took over 15 minutes to get the wings, making me think "freshly prepared" but they weren't hot, just warm, hard and so, so dry. The wings were very small, obviously overcooked and the dryness made them almost inedible. Thankfully I had ordered six of mine with the honey garlic sauce which made them more palatable. Garlic honey garlic sauce truly saved me from being unable to choke them down. They were swimming in that delicious sticky, gooey goodness. Very tasty sauce!
The second six wings were lemon pepper, the "not-spicy" variety. Ugh. Thick heavy, dry seasoning on already dry wings ... Those were truly inedible. What a heartbreak.
My husband had his wings un-sauced with buffalo sauce on the side. They were the same as mine, dry, hard, small and just not good eating. Such a disappointment and a very expensive one.

Read moreSuper, super impressed by these guys, they really know flavor! I believe at the moment they are takeout-only (and it may stay that way), which is what we got. We tried the house marinade legs and thighs, lemon pepper legs and thighs, spicy lemon pepper wings, and mac and cheese.
My girlfriend comes from the South so she’s a self-professed “chicken snob” and said the house marinade legs were the best chicken she’s had in her life. This is no light statement from her!
We got the lemon pepper as well and whooo that was very lemony. I personally loved the lemon but it was a little too strong for my girlfriend. But she said that “it was so good I’m still trying to eat it anyway” with tears in her eyes.
The Mac and cheese was an equal hit. Super cheesy with onions as well!! Soo good and my girlfriend is rarely impressed by restaurant Mac and cheese but she loved this one.
Ranch was delicious, it is definitely made in-house because it did NOT taste store-bought and I actually liked it (I don’t usually like ranch). Their secret sauce is some sort of flavored mayo but with chunks of stuff like pepper and onion probably in it. Suuuper super good!!
There is nothing I would not recommend from here, but we agreed that the house marinade was the best overall. I was incredibly impressed by Sunnin and knowing that the same people started this place meant it was worth checking out. You will not be disappointed!
Also to note- there were many little holes poked in the boxes so the food would not get soggy. I picked up our food and didn’t eat it until 1+ hour later, they were still pretty crispy! So many places forget the little details but this one was super...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to check out Joey's Wings since we've been searching for a great wing spot nearby, and I’m happy to say—we’ve found it! The wings have a perfectly crispy bite without sacrificing the juiciness of the chicken (we ordered the jumbo wings this time, but we're excited to try their organic version on our next visit).
The jumbo wings are about the same size as Buffalo Wild Wings' on their best days, but the flavor is where Joey’s truly shines. The sauces we tried surpassed anything from Buffalo Wild Wings. We went with the classic Buffalo, Mustard on the Heat (my personal favorite—it had a slight kick with a light tinge of mustard that blended beautifully), and Garlic Parmesan, which was incredibly appetizing.
Now, onto the baked wedges—absolutely fantastic! They had the same crispiness as the wings, with a fluffy, soft interior. I highly recommend pairing them with Joey's Secret Sauce and the Dijon Mustard for dipping; both complemented the wedges perfectly.
We also had the pleasure of chatting with Nikoletta, the owner. She was incredibly down-to-earth and a joy to talk to about her experiences in the area.
If you're a wing lover who enjoys supporting local businesses, this spot is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be repeat customers—I’m so glad this...
