I had an amazing day recently here at Los Angeles's Persian Square. If you know the area but haven't visited recently, I highly recommend you check out the new murals, shops and restaurants which have been recently added because they are a huge contribution to the already stunning collection of cool restaurants, shops, artwork and people here.
I tried Persian ice cream. (rose, saffron and pistachio) I got a free lesson in Persian food from "Javan" restaurant where I tried a couple of traditional Persian stews. I walked around the square and admired the cobblestone street feel near the alcove of "Little Tehran".
I loved seeing a newly painted mural in honor of famous sports legends and bustling new barbershops with men's haircut specials written in English and Farsi.
There's a big American flag mural in the center of the village where I took a picture of my ice cream.
Currently, there are big blue banners around the square that read "Women Life, Freedom" in anticipation of an Iranian holiday being celebrated in the Persian Square this coming March. It looks like it will be...

A real square is a public space (think of Pershing Square, Tahrir Square, Red Square, or Tehran's Azadi Square). A good square has restrooms, landscaping, fountains, benches, public art, &c. Persian Square doesn't even have a plaque or stanchion. It's a car sewer. The city could easily remove cars from this entire stretch of Westwood. There are alleys behind the businesses for whatever vehicles need access to the Persian businesses here.
