This has become our go-to dog park for our young golden retriever. We live closer to the Barrington-Veterans park, but unfortunately that park has become an unofficial dog walker dog park with the ratio of humans to dogs being a bit more than my husband and I are comfortable with. My experience so far with Westwood is that it's no more than 2 dogs per person that goes to the park which makes me feel better about my dog's safety should another dog become a bit unruly.

The Westwood park has a good mixture of clay and grass with lots of benches and shade in each fenced area (little dog area has had more shade in the times that we've gone). There's a "big dog" and a "little dog/shy dog" area with a buffer zone and/or time out area between.

The park itself is quite large and is located behind the Federal building on Wilshire and Veteran. There are a few tents sprinkling the lawn, but I personally have not...

This park was a 5 star park up until around a year ago but now as it is essentially a dog park and playground surrounded by an encampment of homeless people, I can't recommend it.

There are several dozen tents and more seem to show up each time we visit. I have absolutely nothing against the homeless and only in some rare cases it has been a problem. One time a woman came to wash her clothes and bottles out where the dogs drink. Filling up bottles is one thing washing off into their bowls and surrounding area is too much.

There is also a complete inconsistency in terms of cleanliness. Some of the tents are well organized and the areas are clean. Others are just heaps of trash....

Absolutely love this park. Have never had a bad experience in any way here. A total must to bring your human and furry friends! Not only is the park kept clean for the most part, but the owners at the dog park are wonderful. They're respectful, friendly and will almost always keep their dogs in check. Most dogs that go there are super friendly and it's just honestly the only park i know where I can let my guard down. My Dobie loves coming here! There's a HUGE park with basketball, soccer and tennis courts. There's a playground for the kids and most of the park is always nice green and grassy. Absolutely love this park and the regulars...

Lol this park is laughable bad. Homelessness galore, and irresponsible dog owners. Literally got bit by a small pit bull today while it lunged at my dog and the owner just awkwardly laughed it off (apologize?) . Luckily I reacted in time or it would have gotten a hold of my entire hand. Avoid this place. Do you really want to mingle with these low life’s and risk your and your dogs safety?
