Disappointing Experience at Terroni Larchmont: Overpriced Food, Snobby Staff, Average Food.
I had high hopes for Terroni Larchmont, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The most glaring issue was their categorical refusal to provide Parmigiano cheese with seafood pasta, despite the pasta being so average that I could not eat it. As an Italian myself, I found this decision utterly perplexing and disappointing.
In Italian culinary tradition, Parmigiano cheese is often used to enhance the flavors of various dishes, including seafood. However, when I requested Parmigiano to accompany my seafood pasta, I was met with a flat-out refusal from the staff. Their explanation? A rigid adherence to some arbitrary culinary rule that Parmigiano should not be served with seafood.
This stubborn refusal to accommodate a simple request speaks volumes about the inflexibility of their kitchen and their disregard for customer satisfaction. It's disheartening to see a restaurant prioritize outdated culinary dogma over the preferences of their patrons.
Moreover, beyond this glaring issue, the overall dining experience was underwhelming. The service was lackluster, with snobby staff. The ambiance was nothing to write home about either, lacking the cozy and inviting atmosphere that one would expect from an Italian eatery.
In summary, my visit to Terroni Larchmont was a letdown. Their refusal to provide Parmigiano with seafood pasta reflects a rigid adherence to outdated culinary rules, and coupled with subpar service and ambiance, it makes for a forgettable dining experience. Save your money and seek out establishments that prioritize good food over rigid...
Read moreI'm giving a low review because they served the fairly large, one-sized pizza on a plate un-cut and when I asked the server to ask the kitchen to cut it into slices (like ANY OTHER pizzeria in the world does), he refused, saying, "They don't do that because it's more 'authentic' this way." I don't care if it's "authentic" or not; you're on Larchmont Avenue in Los Angeles, notta de-ah old-ah world-ah Roma, so don't inconvenience your American customers who a) expect their pizza to be cut so that they don't make a mess trying to cut it themselves; and b) accommodating a simple customer request that takes ten seconds in the kitchen, which shouldn't even have to be asked for. Service was lackadaisical and slow/ineffective/attitudey. (They want to be "authentic" Italian but then have the "LA attitude" of service; dats-ah nuts-ah). However, pizza itself was good, so there's that. Just come with a large serrated knife in hand; that ought to shake...
Read moreCame right on time for our reservation and was seated as soon as we arrived. More than 10 minutes have passed and no one even bothered to check on us or even offered us water. 3-4 servers just passed by us like we were not there. Most of the people eating around us were halfway done their meals or just waiting for their dessert. These servers who walked past us had the time to stop and have a little chitchat to each other. We've been to busier restaurants and have never been treated like this. We were ready to leave as the 15-minute mark was approaching and someone who seemed like a manager finally came by to ask "have you been helped yet?" He was nice, I give him that but our mood was already ruined. A server only came by to check on us as we were about to finish our food and to give our cheque.
Their food is nothing spectacular that could have made up for the...
