I would like to preface this by saying I have never felt the need to leave a negative review for an establishment. I have been coming here for years and have spent more money here than I would like to admit. I have sent friends here and talked highly of this place until today. I came two days ago to buy a sandwich and a Blue Cheese with figs spread in a ceramic pot. I have purchased these products here before, but not this version. When I went to enjoy this with my friend last night, I removed the ceramic pot from the packaging to find mold on the ceramic pot. Today, I called them to ask for a refund. I spoke with the owner, who questioned why I purchased one with mold on it, to which I explained the mold was hidden behind the packaging and how that is an odd response for him to have considering that it would be their responsibility to ensure they aren't selling molded products to customers. I decided to bring in the molded cheese pot and have them complete the refund in person. When I arrived, the owner opened the cheese to discover it was wildly expired and said that the price had gone up on that product "months ago," saying, "You don't know how many people come and scam me for stuff like this." Seemingly insinuating that I was potentially trying to scam him. I drove 40 minutes to sort this out to be met with such disrespect and was denied them replacing the product for me. My experience with them today was incredibly disappointing because this is my absolute favorite sandwich shop. I have not had a negative experience with them previously; however, my experience with rude customer service is echoed in their reviews. I recommend taking your business elsewhere if you want quality food products and professional customer service. Their sandwiches are great, but it's hard to justify supporting a business that treats its loyal...
Read moreDisgusting customer service. I asked the employee at the till, I think his name is Oliver, if I could look at the merchandise they kept only by the window which is where they also chose to keep their prepared sandwich orders and the employee said yes. I specifically went into the shop to buy a piece of merch as a gift souvenir as this is my friend’s favourite deli but I still had to decide which option to go for. They don’t have pictures of their merchandise on their social nor on their website so this was the only way for me to look at the items. As I was deliberating, the same employee aggressively yelled at me to get out of the way. I was startled and tried moving out of the way but he kept yelling at me to just leave. I grabbed a couple pieces of the merch as he continued to yell at me, feeling shocked and humiliated, and I moved over to the other side of the store to continue my task. I made a decision and went to the till and the employee didn’t even apologise or acknowledge what happened. I understand the shop is busy and it can be overwhelming but it’s unacceptable to treat people, let alone customers, this way. If your instinct is aggression rather than having a problem solving mentality, then you’re especially unfit for a customer service job. Why place merchandise you want to sell in an area inaccessible for customers to view them? Not surprised by the other bad reviews I read. I shared what happened with my friends and they told me they also experienced unwelcoming behaviour by...
Read moreIt's hard to find small, family-owned neighborhood shops like these in a city like Los Angeles. Part Wine and Spirits store, part deli and gourmet mini-market, this is one of Larchmont Villages staple and most loved establishments. It certainly has a french, neighborhood shop feel. I come here for the sandwiches. They use fine artisan cheeses (swiss gruyere, mozzarella, Spanish manchego) and quality imported deli meats like Black Forest Ham, Salami, and Prosciutto. They're made on either fresh baked french baguette or Ciabatta. These sandwiches are so good and pretty cheap for the quality in comparison to other sandwich shop prices. The bread is delicious, and on the turkey sandwich (my favorite) they put balsamic, olive oil, and a sundried tomato aoili which really creates a nice combination of flavors. A half size sandwich is actually the size of a typical sandwich you'd get elsewhere so that's certainly enough for one person. They sell a great variety of wines from all over the world as well as alcohol. They also sell some imported or specialty food items like chocolates, sauces/condiments, oils, vinegars, cookies, crackers, beverages, and more. The downside is there are only a few tables outside to sit if you want to eat there, so chances are you'll have to take your sandwich to go and...
