Writing a negative review about one of my favorite stores is hard. I love blue mercury and the curated collection of products they sell.
At the larchmount bluemercury, kindness and understanding is not something this store manager embodies or trains her staff to embody.
I often frequent the Santa Barbara, CA Bluemercury and their staff go above and beyond. Always. They always get me to come back from their kind gestures and sincerity.
Quite the opposite at this store. The first time I went after moving to West Hollywood I was happy to “Re-up” on all my essentials, knowing very well I was coming out of the store with at least $200 less in my bank. Like always.
Which is what happened, except coincidentally there was a $225 promotion running where if you spend that amount you receive a sample bag.
( Please remember this is when the first wave of covid happened where people lost jobs and many brands were effected with loss of business. God bless)
As I’m getting ready to pay I notice the 50+ stacked goodie bags they haven’t given out. When I asked what a loyal bluemercury shopper like myself had to do to get one they said to spend $25 more. I told them I truly needed nothing else plus nothing is really under $25 at blue mercury, hoping they would see my shopping history and throw one in.
They didn’t and to make matters worse they FOUGHT with me and didn’t even include samples like they normally do. It was a very embarrassing experience. I swore I would never go back to this store.
Fast forward to a few weeks later when the product recommended by one of their floor managers ended causing irritation to my eyes (it was an under eye product). I decided to go to another location for the return because of their unfriendliness at this store. Well the store I went to didn’t sell the skin care line so I had to go back to this one to do it. I went a little after 30 days because of how busy I have been plus I really didn’t want to go back to this horrible representation of a Bluemercury.
I went back and explained what happened and the guy said sorry our manger doesn’t allow returns after 30 days. When I told him I did return it within 30 days to a store that didn’t sell it and that regardless the product caused an allergic reaction to my eyes, he said there’s nothing he could do. Not even a, “Are you okay? That must have been horrible, I’m sorry.” Really horrible customer service.
Thank god the corporate team reached out, because they rectified this issue beyond expectations. However the whole larchmont bluemercury team needs a change of attitude, morals and customer service if they want...
Read moreI worked here 2021. Absolutely emotionally unsafe, awful, and toxic work environment. The manager Leeda would turn us all against each other by playing devil’s advocate with all of us. The area manger Sarah Blanton was also dishonest and offered me to transfer when all this ridiculousness was going on to a different location that was already filled. It was constant drama and threats of write ups for the most frivolous things. It’s literally like a high school mean girls environment with the managers on constant ego/power trips. Don’t work at this location especially if Leeda is your manager. She is absolutely not to be trusted. I also hired her to do my makeover, tipped her 20% and paid over $100+ and she replied back saying “you didn’t have to”, in which that solicited me asking for my tip refund back if she wasn’t even grateful, to then ask for just a complete refund because the makeover didn’t even last all day/honestly felt like she just didn’t put in her best effort. No response or refund given back. I also saw that she had stolen a bunch of the mirrors from here at her home. Two stars because the generous gratis but overall this company has you doing way too much with not that great of a pay. They also don’t reimburse for parking for non managers which is ridiculous because this company can afford to. So just know that if the employees here seem irritated, these may be some...
Read moreThe mission of Blue Mercury was reflected very poorly on their values of ensuring that the culture within their walls feels inclusive to all was far from my experience I had at this store location.
As soon as I arrive with my husband & son we were followed everywhere and it was obvious. We are minorities and felt that we were treated differently and were followed around the store.
I explained this to one of the employees as she watched her coworker follow my black husband around the store. Her only explanation was that they had someone come in 30 min earlier and steal at their store. That was it. As she continued to watch my family and I be followed and made felt very uncomfortable and targeted at this store.
This store in no way reflects or is committed to the mission to create a welcoming space where everyone with different ethnicity or different background in the community can share the power of beauty.
If you are a minority, I highly recommend you shop anywhere else, but here. This store at this location is no way a welcoming space for minorities nor are they committed to allow you to have a positive or pleasant...
