I had read the EaterLA article about this new place and tried it out last night. First of all - it is absolutely beautiful. They have three distinct areas, each with its own feel. Beautifully decorated and fabulous ambiance. We sat in the sushi room and had one of their Omakase options. We are true sushi snobs and have eaten at all the best sushi places in the valley. We have a few we frequent. I can honestly say that this was the best sushi we've had in quite a while. The service was friendly. The drinks were delicious. We joked that we are going to come back every day. While I wish we had the time and money to come every day, I can certainly promise that we will be back - and often. It has only been open for a month, so I don't think it has been fully discovered yet. Go now before everyone discovers this place and reservations become hard to get!
I'm updating my review a year later... Sushi lovers... this is an incredible secret gem in the Valley. There are three spaces in the restaurant - each with its own fun vibe. The secret is that the sushi bar is almost ALWAYS empty - and the sushi is really incredible - not rolls swimming in sauces - but legit high quality sushi. AND you essentially get your own private sushi chef because no one sits at the bar. It is our regular date night place and I love it. I think people just don't know about it in the sea of mediocre sushi options in the valley. They also have very good cooked Peruvian fusion for your weird friends who don't like sushi. I highly highly recommend. I'm sorry I've kept...
Read moreWe ordered two appetizers, some sushi, and two entrées. The appetizers (Corn Tempura and Oxtail Bao) were an excellent start. For sushi, we tried the salmon, scallop, and two blue crab hand rolls. The salmon was unfortunately very fishy and honestly less enjoyable than the cheaper Sushi Stop across the street. The scallop sushi was outstanding and easily some of the best I have had. The blue crab hand roll was also very good.
For entrées, we had the Udon Cacio e Pepe and the Uni Pasta. The udon was not bad, but it felt simple and underwhelming for the $33 price tag. It reminded me of something I could make at home with store-bought noodles and parmesan. If it were priced closer to $18, I would consider ordering it again, but not at this level.
The Uni Pasta was the biggest disappointment. It came with only a few small pieces of uni, the pasta felt basic, and it was underseasoned to the point where it lacked depth and flavor. At $60, it fell far short of expectations.
For two people, with just a couple of appetizers, a few pieces of sushi, and two entrées, the bill came to $230. At that price point, I expected a memorable and elevated dining experience, but the food did not deliver.
The restaurant has a great atmosphere, easily a 10/10, but unless the food improves or the pricing comes down, it is hard...
Read moreLet me start by saying this was my third time going to this restaurant because I love their food and I love supporting this establishment . I also love their atmosphere. Tonight however the service was terrible! I also understand that s waiter could have a bad night, management failed to organize & help-service was unable to overcome a usually great atmosphere that And apologizes for a bad service then all is forgiven. It took well over 15 min to get our drinks. It took even longer to get our food. On top one that of our orders was not placed and even though I asked for it towards the end the respond as It’s coming soon. I don’t Believe a food preparation should an additional 50 min. At least an apology would have helped. But our waiter was very ignorant and didn’t express any kind of apology. When they give you tablet to pay for tip there should be a part where it says 0% 10% or 15%. I also believe it’s so wrong when he is waiting right in front of you waiting for a tip. I regret giving him 18% because he didn’t deserve it. He deserved 0%. Unless the owner(so reaches out I will never recommend or go to...
