Lumen Coffee — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Today, I start the Fall season with a cup of coffee and an adventure.

Lumen Coffee is a tiny to-go coffee bar in the heart of HP neighborhood of LA. There are very few tables and seats out front and rear shaded area where you can enjoy and relax with your coffee.

I perused their modest menu; they have all the basic coffee and tea drinks as well as signatures. Moreover, they sell coffee bags. Staff were diligent, affable and competent. Atmosphere was chill. Street parking only.

Overall, I enjoyed my Cold Brew. And I cannot wait to try...

(look below for updated review) Their coffee is on par with the best coffee places in town but their matcha is definitely lacking compared to most $6 matchas; they're so milky and bland! I have to go out of the way to NOT RECOMMEND the matcha lattes. I'll be going back another time in the future to see if they've fixed it.

Update (Oct/27): Ordered a matcha latte—it's significantly better than before. It's not a strong matcha, but it's a good matcha. I also discovered they have a catalogue of great pastries....

The coffee itself was very good. It is a bit on the higher end, paying almost $7 for a cortado with half and half, which came out to the size of one of the little espresso cups was a bit much. The staff also seemed pretty disinterested and preoccupied. Not bad, but can’t say...
