Beautiful and historic location which is unfortunately completely mismanaged and misguided by a dangerous ideology which ignores science and facts. No, houses made from tule thatching are not “better equipped to withstand hurricanes and tornados” contrary to what a sign posted at this location would have us believe. Just ludicrous and irresponsible that this messaging was even approved, as we grapple with more and more extreme weather in Southern California. Sustainable building practices do exist in modern day construction and architecture, LA county is full of them and has many resources for you to check out. You should consider doing some research and educating yourselves instead of posting lazy propaganda.

The gate doesn't open before 7 but people just park on the street and hike up the hill. The shortcut coming back down off to the west of the pond on top of the hill is rather steep. Don't go that route after a rain.

One of the better nature visitor's centers I've seen. Deb's is a little local treasure, especially with the recent rains! Great place to take kids, dogs, or a little hike with friends (or alone if you are like me).

I was only here for a training session with a non-profit i work with. But it was super easy to find and offers a really pleasant atmosphere. Legit bathrooms are on-site. A small koi-like pond site in the courtyard, and the facility itself is surrounded by some pretty lush vegetation perfect for hiking. I'll have to go back to check out the trails. All in all, it was a peaceful and refreshing...

I work with a local public High School (New Village Girls Academy) which serves low-income students. The Audubon Center has done a fantastic job providing internships for our students where they learn to connect with the healing power of nature and help restore native plants to the landscape. Many thanks to Marcos and his team for...
