McKay's — Restaurant in Los Angeles

It is too bad I have to leave 1 star because I wouldn't even give it that. Terrible service, waited forever for our food and no one but us seemed to care. We arrived at 6PM and had to be at a show at the shrine by 8PM. When we arrived, there were multiple empty tables and it was not busy at all. We were promptly given waters and our order was taken with 10 minutes after of our arrival. As we waited, we all drank our water and no one ever checked on us to see if we needed more. We had to ask for more on two different occasions. Ridiculous! For a reason that was never explained to us by the wait staff or the manager it took an hour and 20 minutes to receive our food. What should have been more than enough time to eat and get to our show, suddenly turned into a rush to eat and get there. As we waited, there were 2-3 other tables that began complaining that they had been waiting an hour for their food and all of the sudden, their food appeared. The biggest problem with this is that we arrived before all of those tables and they got their food before we did! Once we finally began asking what was taking so long, we were brushed off by the wait staff and manager and were given no direct answer or anything that made us want to stay. Some of the tables got up and left without receiving their food because it was so ridiculous. They brought us complimentary calamari, which half of our vegetarian table couldn't eat and still offered no explanation, discount etc... After our food finally arrived, It wasn't very good, lacked flavor and was not worth the wait. Don't go here. You are better off with somewhere that values its customer and doesn't...

The food was good but the server had an awful attitude. He is definitely in the wrong profession. From the start he acted like us being there was an inconvenience for him. We ordered the continental breakfast and simply informed him we didn't receive the fruit it comes with. His response in a nasty voice was "you didn't ask for fruit, I can't pick what you want." I was shocked by that. It is listed on the menu as coming with fruit. The only choices to make are beverage and pastry/muffin. The manager apologized and a different server who helped us later was really nice, but it doesn't make up for the restaurant employing such a nasty server. I had two meals at McKays while staying at the Radisson. The breakfast was very good (I chose the lox plate). However, when we tried dinner, they were unable to prepare the appetizer I ordered as my entree. I chose the curried mussels, which are described as "fresh from the net, pan flashed in a rich coconut curry sauce with grilled flat bread". On the first plate, I enjoyed one warm mussel. The second was only partly warm. The third mussel I picked up actually had ice in it (fresh from an arctic net?). I sent the dish back, and they prepared another.
