Please don’t ever go here! I have never had horrible Indian food until now. If there was a -10 on here, I would give it that rating. The food was so gross that I felt like I wanted to vomit.
The people are nice but the food is awful please please please avoid it.
The fish curry tasted like tomato sauce from the 99 Cents store --- actually worse.
The rice was more flavorful than the Saag paneer and the Dal was tasteless.
The only thing that tasted fairly well was the Raita and you can’t go wrong with that because it’s basically yogurt.
The samosa crust was decent but the meat lacked flavor.
Perhaps the restaurant caters towards the elderly who live in the area and are need of salt-free, flavorless dietary options like Indian Food at this restaurant.
Unfortunately, I might have to go to Cedars Marina after this.
#Worst Indian food ever
UPDATE: The server asked us how was everything and when I shook my head to indicate it wasn't good, she walked away, went to the back/kitchen and never returned.
Then I summoned for the manager who was sitting at the table. Mind you, there were no other customers. When we informed how tasteless are food was and how it was making me feel sick, he outwardly refuted the stomach ache and desire to regurgitate that I was feeling. He also confirmed my suspicions about the food catering to his clientele.
Then, he began to dictate our spice levels and suggested that he could redo our food by making it medium.
Of course I informed him my sister had medium, he transformed into a health expert and began to say how her spice level was spicy and that he could redo her food.
When I asked about mine, he said he could make it medium...which was perplexing because we already told him the medium was just as awful as the mild.
Overall, he was rude, dismissive, and whisked away our barely touched plates after charging us $54 for yucky Indian food that, with the exception of the samosas, piece of Tandoori chicken and bit of the saag paneer that my starving tween scarfed down, was left for them to throw away.
He also said he didn't care about our reviews or what we had to say because he offered to make the food over. Why would we want to suffer all over again...
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place if you are in need of true Indian food.
BTW, was in the area visiting and went back for Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf around 8 or 9ish. Only two...
Read moreLet’s start with the food. For context, I am Indian, grew up eating Indian food. The food is forgettable, bland, nothing to write home about. Not terrible, but certainly not the best and definitely not worth the TERRIBLE service. Let’s get into it!
My toddler has never been charged to eat at a buffet. We’ve gone to dozens over the years and have never once been charged for his plate. We never make him a plate, rather we typically will give him a piece of bread or a spoon of rice and split our dessert with him. Today of all days he decides he wants to try the chicken so we put the chicken on our plate, then got a spare plate and cut the 3 little pieces we gave him on it. I also put his piece of bread, a tablespoon of rice and a piece of potato on the plate. Just ate the chicken. The server only came to our table twice in the 30+ minutes we were there - once to drop off bread then a second time to tell us that if we come back again and put my kids food on a separate plate we’ll be charged the champagne buffet price for my kids meal. Neither of us even took the champagne our buffet meal came with, we opted for water. The server never asked how the food was, never checked in, never asked if we wanted more bread or water, and waited until the end to clear the plates once they were piled up. Spent the whole time on his phone. He was rude, so when I paid the bill and left NO TIP because the service was TERRIBLE (and made sure to write that so he was aware since he scattered like an ant once I asked for the check)he followed me out to our car and tried to argue with me about it. So unprofessional. I explained and he was so defensive, so I told him have a great day, got in the car and left. In this economy there are SO MANY better tasting buffets to go to. Which was clearly where everyone else seemed to be - place was practically empty the whole time we were eating!...
Read moreI only first ordered from the restaurant because I live a block away and just wanted something new - and I'm happy to say I was extremely pleased with the result. I note that most negative reviews on this site refer to delivery/utensil/logistical issues, so maybe I'm immune to it given my proximity to the restaurant - so I'm always focused on taste and quality of the food. And that overrides everything, in the end.
I compare this to the Indian food I ate while living in New York City and London, and I find this to be my favorite Indian I've ever tried. The chicken tikka masala, as a staple, is perfectly spiced to taste (we appreciate that we can order a specific level from mild to hot) and the sauce is perfectly textured, creamy without excessive richness, perfect to soak in the basmati rice. Aloo matar, saag paneer, all are excellent. We try something new each week we order and we never walk away dissatisfied.
To me, cultural experiences aside, the quality of traditional Indian food is an exercise in two things: seasoning, and how well the food is cooked (compare undercooked vs overcooked chicken, etc). I find the seasoning here to be perfect - strong and flavorful without overwhelming, and whatever is being cooked (chicken, potatoes, veggies, anything) tends to be perfect - moist, tender, not too dry, not too chewy... just RIGHT.
I normally don't write reviews on anything, ever, but this time, I felt compelled - because I'm thinking about what I'll order for my delicious...
