This hotel is very old and in a very poor condition. However, I saw the effort from a hotel receptionist, who I guess is also the owner, trying to fix the issues. I gave one extra star for his effort. The original unit assigned to us was old and smelled stale. The carpet was dirty. There was mold on wood area. The outer part of window AC unit was rusty. I also saw red-color thing attached to the near-to-floor area of a bed frame, which I suspect is jam. Later, we found that there was no hot water in this unit. The receptionist tried to solve the issue first and later followed instructions of a plumber through a phone call. We waited for 1.5 hours to 2 hours, and checked with him about the progress a few times. Eventually, he changed our unit to another one. However, I found that the lock deadbolt of the front door of the second unit didn’t work, and its front door had no other security latches or chain locks. Basically, everyone who had a door access card of the room could unlock the door and enter the room. The receptionist told me that having an electronic key card lock was secure enough for a hotel room, according to the requirements on hotel management. I trusted his words about the requirements. I also trusted him that he had not given and would not give the door access cards of this room to anyone else except me. However, I didn’t want to take any risk, since I am a tiny woman with only a child for the trip. Around 11pm, I checked out from this hotel and found another...
Read moreManagement was rude. My husband and I booked a night here during Thanksgiving and neither the two people I spoke with at the hotel, or the booking site mentioned that they were ABSOLUTELY not pet friendly. My husband and I drove 4 hours in Thanksgiving eve traffic, only to be refused when we got there. Our pet sitter fell thru at the last minute and we had to bring our medium little cockerspaniel mix with us. She wouldn't even let us stay if he stayed the night in the car, assuming that we were lying and would just sneak him in later (even though all the rooms face the office and whoever was at the desk could see) We offered to sign something acknowledging that we'd have to pay extra if we did break the rules but she just kept insisting that "it is my policy". When my husband asked to see the policy because it's not posted anywhere publicly, she pulled a ratty sheet of paper from under the desk. So we had to find somewhere else affordable at the last minute on a holiday weekend. Thank God for the Motel 6 by the airport. We're a military family who has moved all around the country with our pets and stayed in, and lived in many hotels. We have NEVER had such an unpleasant and unwelcoming experience. But on the plus side, the motel 6 is super nice and clean, with an on site 24 hour...
Read moreThis was our last night in the US having travelled from Chicago. It was near to where I was dropping off my rental vehicle but with it being so near to the marina & Santa Monica I had high hopes. Our first impression was that it was a bit run down in a not so nice area but we were willing to give it a chance. The room was adequate, of a reasonable size & fairly clean. There is also a small kitchenette if needed. There was a problem with the WiFi but when raised with the duty manager explained that it was broken but was being repaired that day. True to his word it was up & running within an hour or so. The area appears to be quite commercial & on a very busy road. We had hoped to go for a short walk to a nice restaurant for our last meal but we didn't feel comfortable / safe to do that. Fortunately there was an 'IN 'N OUT' burger place directly across the road together with a Starbucks for breakfast. We took the opportunity to have a quiet night in with a burger instead of going out with a meal. ||The motel was adequate for a simple overnight stopover & the staff that I spoke to were all nice people but it is NOT somewhere I would stay again. To add salt into the wounds I also booked a bit in advance & obviously paid over the odds. All in all a disappointing end to...
