Cons (first, because it was that bad) -visible rat droppings -nonchalant management regarding safety of guests -poor quality/tasting food -Pungent smell of mildew/moth balls throughout restaurant -filthy bathroom -dirty/sticky condiment bottles & salt/pepper shakers Pros -friendly waiter -no wait time for it being Saturday morning Explanation (if it’s still needed after you read about rat poop & smell): First, I read the reviews before we stopped here & I’m shocked at how many good reviews there are after what we witnessed & even more shocked at the A rating that’s visible when you walk in. As soon as you walk in the smell is overwhelming. Yes, we still stayed because we were not going to have time to look for a different place before our appointment & we figured how much worse can it get. We were seated right away at a corner booth towards the back. The food was bad, so the only one im going to detail is the stuffed french toast that was exceptionally bad. The only two bites i took were filled with old tasting grease, like they deep fried it in old oil. When we got up to leave, we turned back to see if we left anything behind & that’s when we spotted the rodent droppings on top of the booth (pictured). At the register we asked to speak to the manager, she called someone by the name of Kim over. We had just walked by this man who was working on a laptop with some paperwork. My husband let him know about the rat poop, but the ā€œmanagerā€ didn’t even flinch & with no concern or eye contact proceeded to simply say that pest control has been on it & there was nothing that they could do. As he finished processing payment he did hand us a stamp card, im guessing for future visits, but no apologies or discounts were given. We spent over $80 (not including tip) for 2 adults & 1 kid. Worst breakfast spot we’ve ever been to.

First time dining at Nico's Family Restaurant. Was looking for a family dining restaurant and what a find! We really enjoyed the food, service and the atmosphere. It had a very friendly, quaint neighborhood dining atmosphere, where one could enjoy socializing with family and friends while dining. The menu had a very extensive selection. Everything they served was so-o-o delicious and good, from their food, drinks, and deserts. Oh my, the chocolate cake and apple pie were absolutely incredible! Believe it or not, we had to go back again the next day to try the other dishes. Oh, was it good! Again, we had the chocolate cake and apple pie for dessert! Anything that is made with Strawberries - i.e. smoothies, Strawberry Bellini, etc, is especially INCREDIBLE during Strawberry Season! This has become our special dining place whenever we are in this area. Highly recommend Nico's Family Restaurant.

Reason for visiting: breakfast Saturday morning Date/time of visit: Saturday morning,~11:00 AM Parking: in the adjacent lot shared with other businesses Party size: 1 Environment/ambience: old school cafe/diner setup. 2 small TVs over the kitchen. Clean restaurant, 80s style. They bring you the check and you pay upfront, leave the tip on the table. Unisex restrooms were clean. Employees seem happy. Coffee is served all the time; an employee is walking around looking to refill empty cups. Service: was great. Didn't have to wait long for anything. Food: was good. Had the French toast, with scrambled eggs, sausage links, and a glass of OJ. Cost: not too bad, $20 with tip. But $4.50 for a glass of OJ? šŸ˜

I am not sure where these 5 star reviews are coming from. The first smell as you walk in this restaurant is mildew. The inside of the restaurant is old and falling apart. I overlooked it because of all the hype on the reviews. Boy was I fooled. We sat down and the server quickly took our order. When we got our food I was surprised by the color of the biscuits and gravy. The gravy clearly came out of a box and tasted awful (bitter). My partner ordered the stuffed French toast and it tasted like they were deep fried in weeks old oil. The only good thing about our order were the hash browns because the coffee was funny tasting also. I didn’t even look at the dessert menu because I noticed there was grocery store bought cheesecake, pie and chocolate cake with the label in a fridge as you walk in. Needless to say we won’t...
