I grew up just around the corner on Marlin Place near Fallbrook Avenue. At the time the area on the southwest side of the park that now contains what appears to be a soccer field was a privatly owned parcel with a huge oak and several pomegranet trees. My childhood friend and I would spend hours climbing the oak and swinging from a rope while munching the purple pomegranite seeds.
As far as I can remember the park buldings were what grew from the original stage coach stop named after the local native-American word canoga meaning "watering hole." I cannot validate this but it is what I heard as a child.
I have many fond memories of this place and am very glad to see it has been preserved...

The park is small but has everything a family can enjoy. That has picnic benches grills a play area with sand for the kids a play area without saying for the kids. Read moreParking can be a pain on days when there are organized sports events or parties. Bathrooms are DISGUSTING. Once, maybe they just hadn't been cleaned yet. But after visiting on a few occasions at different times of the day, they're ALWAYS disgusting. The playground is filled with sand, which is the other reason for the low rating. It may be a personal preference, but I've had better experiences at playgrounds that are filled with wood chips or have some sort of "flooring" installed. The sand is just so messy.
