My family and I came here to eat dinner. My sister was visiting so we decided to take her here since one of my other sister been here already. The first thing you should know is bring your own scissor because the noodles are long and they don't cut it. My sister already been here so she brought her own scissors and it came in handy. I called ahead to make reservation to be sure they can accommodate for 10 people. Finding parking was easy because there wasn't a lot of cars parked there. I checked in at the host stand since we arrived early but they were still able to sit us. They don't have a lot of drinks here and if you get soda or tea, it's going to be in a can or bottle so no free refills. We ordered the sautéed string bean (everyone favorite beside me), edamame, popcorn chicken (it was okay but not the best), chicken chow mein (probably the dish I would order again, egg rolls (my wife loved it), chicken stir fried sliced noodle, boiled shrimp & Egg & yellow chives dumplings, juicy pork dumplings, prime beef skewer (I thought it needed more marinate), Angus Beef Tongue (my dad was the only one who liked it) and pork belly skewer (my sister like it). My biggest complaint here would probably be the wait time for the food and the service. The staff are nice and apologetic but the service is just slow if you need refills, napkins and utensils. Our skewers took almost an hour to come out and we thought it would be the quickest. They make the noodles by hand so I can understand why that can take a while. They don't take American Express so have your Mastercard or Visa ready. The dining area here is more modern than how it was before. It was good to try a new place but I likely won't be...
Read moreWell we went to this place once where the OLD restaurant was, and just went that once. Not that great...BUT THIS NEW RESTAURANT, Yummy Yum Yum! The food was Dee-licious, hearty and the servings were generous which we appreciated so very much! (Don't ever change)! Can't wait to return! Now, three things I want to share that don't affect the quality of the food in any way: 1. TELL THEM NO MSG. 2. When you guys clean the tables, DON'T MAKE SO MUCH CLANGING NOISE~! The ceilings are tall and the banging of the dishes thrown into the bus tub reverberate right through you! Shoulders Up Annoying! Put the dishes in the bus tub more quietly!!! 3. Tell the girl there that came to our table a few times (went 3/28 pm) to cheer up! She was so somber we thought she might have gotten in trouble or something because she was a walking minus sign! If you don't feel it, FAKE it, but we felt a little bad about her depressing energy! BUT! The FOOD WAS SO GOOD!!! We savored every bite and as mentioned, we can't wait to return. LOVED THIS NEW PLACE~! Hearty, Delicious and well, maybe we will even go back...
Read moreAs an Asian-American who grew up overseas (INCLUDING living in Asia), I will say that this is hands down THE BEST RESTAURANT I’ve ever eaten at in all of Southern California. The flavors are AUTHENTIC, FLAVORFUL, and just downright DELICIOUS. It was my first time coming in today and I was blown away with how truly authentic the Asian flavors are, I thought for a second I jumped in a plane and flew to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore or any other culinarily prestigious countries I’ve had the privilege of dining at, the moment I tasted Northern Cafe’s food. The spring onion (or scallion) pancake is even better than the best I’ve had overseas. The beef wrapped in roti, the shrimp and chive dumplings, and the chicken fried rice were all exceptional. This is as authentic as it gets and the price is right. This is now my new favorite place that I would recommend EVERYONE near and far to drive to. OH, and to top it all off, the service is impeccable. Respectful, happy and helpful waiters who made our experience even better. 100% a new...
