Pricy, but worth it. Here's why: 1. The service here is beyond stellar. For coming into this place on a Saturday just before the dinner rush, I felt like every single person in the restaurant was focusing their attention on our needs at our table. And we were a pretty large party. 2. The Freshness. Yes, they are a little bit more expensive than say the chain sushi places. But you do get 10 times better quality here. Everything from the Fresh wasabi to the yellowtail sashimi is of the utmost best quality you could ever ask for in a sushi spot. 3. Hole in the wall vibes, with a retro feel. I felt like we should have been sitting next to a celebrity. It's that kind of place, out of the way, tucked into a quiet part of a strip mall. This spot has the atmosphere like you should be seeing someone famous in here trying to lay low. In general, the dishes we ordered were a good representation of what this restaurant does best. The yellowtail sashimi was buttery smooth, melt in your mouth and very flavorful. The octopus salad blew me away. Very fresh, very tender. The fresh Wasabi is divine. It's not like the Spackle type paste you get at the chain Sushi restaurants. No no, this is bright green, almost like a sweet pickled cucumber, finely diced consistency. All of the rolls we ordered had plenty of fish, not just rice, and were absolutely delicious. All of the sauces had a lot of flavor, with lots of complex things going on in each. For instance, some are sweet and sour, yet cool and refreshing, others were very savory with spice and umami. The seared tuna sushi is exceptionally tasty. Another favorite of mine was the Red Dragon Roll. There's usually a few parking spaces out front, and also a handicap space or two. In summary, this is a place you enjoy like a trophy after a long competition of lots of hard work. It's a spot that you reward yourself with, treat yourself to on a special occasion, or just enjoy it as often as you like, or can afford. Lol. It's definitely worth it!

Update 5/9/24 Yeah, still awesome!!! Get an Orion Japanese beer and a Four Seasons plate! You won't regret it!!!! Delish!!! Update 4/2/23: They finally reopened!!! Golf and the family are back and better than ever. If you've never been here please do yourself and this wonderful family the favor of having some of the best sushi in the valley. Yes, I'll say better than most spots on Ventura! Only place I've ever been that has Chilean Sea Bass sushi. Absolutely one of the best sushi restaurants in the valley!! Wow, what can I say? Ok, yea so maybe I've been driving by this place for over ten years thinking....naaaaww. But then a good friend of mine said I have to try and let me tell you, try I did! Lol This place is awesome and really shows how sushi in Los Angeles has evolved. I've noticed that some spots are a mix of maybe Korean, Mexican, Indonesian and if you're lucky, Japanese sushi chefs. And this place keeps up that trend. I learned that a new owner took over about five years ago and it shows. First off, they have my fav Japanese beer, Ichigo as well as my fav sake, Sayuri. Add to this some really good and fresh fish. Now they may not have a huge selection of various fish but that's totally ok. There's plenty here to keep you intrigued especially how they "create" the various dishes. The Four Seasons is a great sample of four different fish with different sauces, awesome! Baked Halibut is incredible and something I can't find at other places. But there are lots of special dishes here. Add to all this some great service and friendliness that's always shown to me when I'm here. Since I've become a regular they treat me like family. If you're like me and have been driving by thinking to yourself "there's no way that old looking Sushi place in Canoga Park is any good", stop in, grab an Ichigo and ask for an Albacore Delight and soon all those fears will wash away.......see ya there!!

I was prepared to not like this place, it's in a shabby old building and it was too loud inside. Furthermore half of the menu is on a board above the sushi bar and your have to ask you server what is in each item. Which might be fine if it were 5 specials of the day, but it's not; it's a over 20 items. We ordered the edemame and it came without salt on it. When asked we were told we had to put our own table salt on it ?? Not great. So now I'm here and we're waiting on rolls and too many kids are yelling and I'm disappointed by the edemame and the fact that I didn't get to hear all the options because I wasn't going to make my server describe over 20 different items and I'm fully prepared to not want to come back ever. And then the rolls come. And they are amazing. Like Huge, and delicious. No skimpy rolls with sad fish here, nope. BIG chunks of salmon and tuna on and in the rolls. Totally amazed. So moral of the story, go, make the servers tell you all the specials, don't order the edemame, Do order the sexy lady roll off the specials list.

Hokey run down, and not the cleanest, however, decided to give it a try because of all the positive reviews. I wanted variety, so I ordered a Bento box, the more expensive one with several choices. It came 2 main items, and one side item.. I chose Teriyaki chicken and beef, and for the second Tempura with two shrimps, and 4 veggies. The smaller side, a California roll. The meal also came with miso soup, a salad, and rice. I also ordered a Sapporo, and didn't receive it until after my food arrived. I heard a ding from the kitchen, and thought that's probably mine, because it wasn't very busy, though, I didn't get mine for another 5 min. It ended up being mine, and the meats were barely warm. The chicken had the texture of compressed meat. The beef was very thin and tuff. The tempura had an off taste and was a little tuff. The only thing that was hot, was the rice. The miso soup came at the same time as the Bento box, and it was only slightly warm, and very watery. I had to ask for ginger and wasabi. As I was eating through my meal, I kept thinking this is low quality, and how poor it tastes, bland, compared to other restaurants where had similar. The salad had dead ends on them. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong thing, though, I won't ever know, because I won't...
