Star is for the quality of the food, which was amazing as always + the location. Had a less than stellar experience with the staff as well as the seating. Upon arrival, we had to find ourselves looking for the host to seat us as no one approached us at the entrance - the restaurant was not at all full or busy by any means. After being seated, we were approached by our waiter with a less than friendly attitude, who coldly asked if we were ready to order without a proper greeting or introduction. Our order was taken, but shortly after we were forced to move tables as the hostess had made a mistake in accommodating for a larger party that was waiting to be seated - this then resulted in us being denied the option of sitting at a table with shade, and had to sit at the round tables on the sidewalk with improperly placed umbrellas. Food came out and had ask a random waiter for drinks, which we got halfway through our meal. Towards the end of our experience - waiter approached us to collect payment letting us know he had "forgotten we...
Read moreIt dawned on me last night that I hadn't been to Rick Caurso's Village since COVID started. It wasn't on purpose but the more foo-foo clothing options (for size zero women mostly) paired with closed restaurants - kept me away.
Last night, my wife and I went with another couple to Porta Via which I have eaten at many times in Beverly Hills. I am eating very carefully these days and they had some good fish/veggie options for me.
I liked that the inside of the restaurant was open air for the most part. The tables AND chairs are too small for someone 6 foot 3 to be comfortable. The tables barely held the food per course. That's an easy fix.
The bar was lively with a cast of beautiful people as you would expect. We didn't drink but the bartender was seemingly busy cranking out tasty concoctions.
For the most part, our food was on point. The service was suitable and the price was pretty much what you'd expect in the Palisades for dinner (like $30-ish per dish.
By all means, we would go back. I think they do breakfast which...
Read moreIf you are looking forward to having an enjoyable time and delicious meal, I would suggest you to think twice before you go to Porta Via! For 18 minutes of waiting we were not offered even water (not to mention not turning on the heater) even though the staff passed by us at least 10 times including the lady named Alex, who escorted us to the table. After that much time of waiting in almost empty restaurant we noticed that newly arriving guests were being helped by a waiter right away. So it’s clear that this place is being prejudice to their guests. When I approached Alex and asked her why that was happening, she decided to find out who was in charge of our area, which probably was what she was supposed to do from the beginning. But at this point we didn’t want to stay in this place anymore and had a nice dinner next door. I’ve been to this place before and they have a decent food which I recommended to my friends and family and I’m absolutely taking my recommendations back. Keep away if you don’t want to...
