A seriously delicious breakfast option in sleepy Eagle Rock. There are many breakfast restaurants in Eagle Rock and I would say this is certainly one of the best. They have huge sized portions, fair pricing, and polite staff. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot, however street parking is very easy to find in this part of town because the neighborhood behind the restaurant doesn’t have permit parking. Most of the seating are outdoor tables however we chose to sit inside for our first visit. Our server was very polite and was very quick with all the refills.
They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of classic and unique breakfast options. Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast dish so I was very pleased to see that they have a dedicated page in their menu to 8 different Benedicts and there is a constant rotation of seasonal or weekly available Benedict. For my meal, I chose one of the weekend only Benedicts and thought it was fantastic. I chose the Huaraches Benedict and truly loved it. The eggs were cooked perfectly, it was covered in delicious sauce, and the Carne Asada was seasoned perfectly and was a great addition to the dish. The side of hashbrowns was also really good and I prefer them much more than the cheaper home fries other restaurants give you.
Overall, I would say this is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Eagle Rock and I plan to be back in the future to try more items. I would suggest to anyone no matter if you have a large or small group, they will be able to make sure you have...
Read moreRock'n Egg is a newish restaurant in the heart of Eagle Rock. I believe it used to be Auntie Ems...but we decided to check it out this morning for breakfast! Parking was a bit of a pain - we had to circle up and down Eagle Rock blvd and side streets before we were able to find something.
Decor-wise....hmm...I think they are still figuring that part out. The restaurant seems to be a hodge-podge of the old establishment's stuff and a random mix of their own odds and ends. It wasn't a big deal for us anyway as all we really care about is the food...but it was definitely clear to see that they hadn't fully settled in/found their groove yet in terms of decorating.
Now onto the food.....pretty standard breakfast fare: omellets, benedicts, breakfast burritos, pancakes, french toast, etc. I opted for the breakfast burrito with bacon and avocado and my husband had the pancake combo with lemon pancakes, sausage, and a side of hashbrowns. My burrito was good - solid flavor and size, with a nice side of salsa. The lemon pancakes were quite yummy and very fresh tasting!
Some prices seemed a little steep for breakfast dishes, while others seemed more reasonable. Like I said, I think this place has some room to grow before they fully come into their own - will look forward to coming back in the coming months to see how the...
Read moreCame here for Sunday brunch. It was packed, even on a rainy day. The owner behind this restaurant have very interesting background. He is also the owner of the historic restaurant Nick's cafe in Chinatown/downtown area. The other guy you'd see tuning around the restaurant with his pictures hanging on the wall is a boxer champion. The wait is long but waiting time is about 20 minutes. Many families come for brunch. Staffs are fast and friendly. There are not that many vegan options. (Basically only two, vegan burrito and vegan skillet, with the same ingredients). The food was good. Vegan skillet has a bed of hash browns (yay) and good portion of spinach and other veggies, alongside with a half of avocado. (Thumbs up). One thing I found it "fascinating" was there were a few whole leaves of lettuces. I'm not quite sure why they didn't chop it or why they just throw a few leaves in between grilled veggies. I'm not sure but find it very interesting. I like their salsa that is spicy enough but not too hot. There are three spaces, one waiting room, one dining space another one is kitchen. You can also choose to seat outside. Anyway, I like the place. Would come here with friends and family. I do wish they could have more vegan and...
