Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles is a place you must visit to cross off your bucket list at least once to see what the hype is ALl about. If you're visiting for the first time, I would recommend trying "Scoe's" 1/4 chicken or the "Herb's" 1/2 chicken entrée. It all really depends on how hungry you are. They are essentially the same, except the Scoe's is smaller, while the Herb's has more chicken. They both come with 2 waffles. You have the choice of white meat or dark meat chicken. Pictured is the Scoe's special, mac and cheese, and Biscuits and gravy. I recommend eating the chicken with Louisiana hot sauce, dipping your chicken in syrup, and eating the chicken together with the waffle. Their waffles are amazing. They are made with Roscoe's own private mix. You can also try their chicken with some of Roscoe's own personal hot sauce bottles. They make different ones than the go-to Louisiana hot sauce. You can buy some of their hot sauce bottles and a T-shirt to take home at their locations. I've been to two different locations, the Hollywood and South Central Manchester locations. Neither of them disappoint. I used to frequent Roscoe's regularly about 10 years back when i was in town for shows or visiting the old Amoeba location. This place hasn't changed much. Still bomb! Wait times may vary. Parking is either super easy or somewhat difficult to find. Depending on the time you are showing up, it can get very busy. There are paid parking meeters on Gower Street. Depending on the day and time, the meeters are free. You should be able to find parking around the area. A short walk to a delicious meal never hurts. Also, the "obama special" was pretty popular. I added 3 pictures taken with my film camera. Enjoy the HollyHood location!

Finally made it to Roscoe’s after hearing about it for years… but honestly, it didn’t live up to the hype. I ordered the Chicken Tenders & Waffles plate, thinking I was in for a soul food classic. Off the bat, I will say the service was chill and they gave me a free fruit punch + lemonade mix, which was a nice surprise. Ended up with two drinks for the price of one, so shoutout to the staff for that. But let’s talk about the food — because that’s where things started to fall off. The waffles? Disappointing. No crisp at all. Just soft and soggy, like they’d been sitting too long or were undercooked. The taste wasn’t awful, kind of sweet and buttery, but the texture really dragged it down. I was expecting that golden outer crunch with a fluffy middle… didn’t happen. Now, the chicken tenders were better — seasoned decently and cooked well. Nothing groundbreaking, but solid enough. I appreciated that they gave you hot sauce on the side, which definitely helped elevate the flavor. The tenders were juicy but not super memorable. I also got a side item, though to be honest… I can’t even remember what it was. That says a lot in itself. Clearly not bad enough to complain about, but definitely not good enough to stand out. Overall, Roscoe’s didn’t really hit like I thought it would. For a place with this much reputation, I expected more flavor, more texture, and just more care in the execution. I can see why people go — maybe for the name, the nostalgia, or the right menu item — but for me, this visit was just okay. Would I go back? Maybe, but I’d try something else next time and hope for a better experience.

This Roscoe's stays pretty busy. They have security on site. Where the 3 rating comes in is due to the way they are cooking the chicken. It's almost burnt. Not sure if it is old grease or they are double frying chicken or what but the qualify of food seems to have changed. The waffles are in a class of their own with the syrup and makes up for the meal but i notice some menu name changes. I asked the security working if Roscoe's had indeed been sold based on what I had been reading on social media and she seemed pretty confident when she said don't listen to the internet stuff the ownership has not changed and it still has the original owners. If you find out that was not true then I'd say I'll follow suit and not go back. They play great R&B and Soul music while you are dining and have 2 sides of the restaurant to get you in and out. You pay at the counter on your way out. The popular drinks are the Eclipse which is Lemonade and Fruit punch. They offer Coke products. They also have orange juice and fruit punch and various mixes. My grandson after the first sip of the Eclipse it was a no. There are no refills on those but the regular fountain drinks do. The Mac and cheese was just okay. My son said the tenders were better than the chicken. They deliver country wide via a company called Gold Belly (I think it's called) but if you can't get to Roscoes but want to try it, you may be able to have it shipped. I just may be willing to try that because those waffles just melt in your mouth.

I have been waiting to try Roscoe's for many years. It is an absolute landmark in Los Angeles. I could not wait to get my hands on some Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Let me tell you, all of my food lived up to my expectations. This diner style restaurant is definitely a "come as you are" kind of place. But of course, since it is only a short distance from where the Oscars are held there are some very nicely dressed people as well. No matter, it is the food that is the main attraction. I had Chicken and Waffles #13 and the fried chicken was delicious. The waffles are nice and thin and very tasty as well. The combination was unfamiliar to me but is quite heavenly. We ordered some sides to share. The cornbread is light and airy with a tiny hint of sweetness. The macaroni and cheese was out of this world, very tasty and rich. The sweet potatoes were prepared in a way so as to be sweet, soft and tender, like sweet potato lollipops. Get the sweet tea, it is unique and very memorable. If you have read this far you should be hungry. Don't hesitate, just go and bring your appetite.
