Best SmashBurger in LA? I think this is it...
Where Easy Street felt like a waste of time and money this place hit for me on all levels.
Atmosphere: Surprisingly Hipster but nice enough. The larger tables have a lot of wasted space. They had literal cinder blocks holding them up which makes it near impossible to sit 4 adults comfortably. They clearly went for aesthetic over comfort on these. the rest of the seating was fine tall tabletops with chairs. Music brings you in.
Food:
Cheeseburger: Beef patty smashed with grilled onions, served on a toasted Martin's potato bun with American cheese, pickles and our fry sauce. Doubles and Triples available.
I would recommend a double at least but holy crap.. THIS IS A BURGER.. ill try to describe it as best I can because this literally blew me away. The meat itself was bursting with flavor, the grilled onions embedded in the patty just is perfection. Crispy edges you dont want the burger to end.The bun is soft and perfectly compliments the burger. The cheese is melty gooey and the sauce.. THE SAUCE is like the best of Inn-n-out spread and Canes mashed together. The last thing to mention the pickles!! some of the BEST pickles i've had. Needless to say this is what to get.
Sweet Potato Fries: Crispy and delicious amazing flavor extra crispy so good
Sauce Tip: Get the Fry Sauce!
Drinks: Soda wine and beer all moderately priced
Price: At $8.00 for a single and add $3.00 for a double its a decent price, compared to the other TikTok famous spots this is the best value for your money.
Parking: i'll be honest this SUCKS. maybe 10 spots in the lot completely packed.. its all street parking and make sure you READ the signs. They definitely tow and ticket nearby. Parking across the street is unlimited after 6pm, otherwise its an 1hour only.
Service: Extremely busy staff but very nice. They let you know its a minimum of 35 Minutes on the weekend and we got our food right around that time slot. We got lucky maybe 5 or 6 people ahead of us but i could see this place having a hour wait to order as the night goes on. Go early
Highly recommended spot, it's not in the greatest area but the food wont dissapoint. Worth the...
Read moreSo I went to this place and got a double patty burger with cheese and bacon. I will say it was one of the best burgers I've had in the LA so far. Definitely the burger was fired and of course you have to get the fry sauce which brought the burger to a whole nother level.
But let's talk about the bad part the containers at the burgers came in obviously was not good quality because the grease for the burger came all the way at the bottom which I spotted. So I asked for another container in one of the guys completely had attitude for the whole entire. He went off on the cashier for giving us a container and mind you we're standing less than five feet away so as he's going off on the cashier or watching him talk about it. It made the experience very uncomfortable and honestly I would not even go back. Even the female chef was looking at him like he was crazy. I would literally not go back to this particular location because he made me feel uncomfortable if it was an issue of using those containers I would have gladly paid for the container.for me it was not a issue if I had to pay for the container or not but I needed something to obviously keep the grease away from my hands as I was going to eat outside of the restaurant.
This honestly went on the whole entire time that we waited for our food so it really made it uncomfortable because the guy would not stop talkin and we were literally standing right in front of them because it's a small place. If I was to ever go to this chain restaurant again it definitely will not be the one in Hollywood just because of him. But luckily the food was good enough to have the burger again otherwise I would not go at all.
You would think for the money we're paying for a smashburger would not cause such a fit from somebody who works there. But obviously I'm wrong but there are plenty of burger spots in la so that one in particular I will not be going back to. I definitely will spend $15 on a burger somewhere else and get a whole combo before I go to the Hollywood location again. And we're talking about that's...
Read moreI visited FTW, last week, after hearing so many raving reviews about the food. Unfortunately, I ended up cancelling my order shortly after placing it.
I entered FTW around 8:20 and was served by 8:30 due to people ahead of me in line. I sat at the bar after placing my order and was really excited to end a rough day with some yummy food. Less than two minutes of sitting, one of the cooks sarcastically says to the cashier, "Don't you just love when five people come in 30 minutes before close?" The cashier made some remark about locking the door and then proceeded to do so.
Immediately, I was turned off and did not want my order completed. I was honest with the cashier when they asked why I was cancelling my order. Their response, "That's something you'll hear every chef say 30n minutes before close. Whether you hear them or not".
As a hospitality professional with 14 years of experience as a waitress and manager of several restaurants, bars, and events, this is not something any customer should experience. This is also not behavior I have experienced working under any chef, in the US or overseas. Furthermore, my father is a chef and I have simply never heard these remarks from any kitchen.
My goal is not to cause serious repercussions for the staff involved in my experience, but to serve as a reminder that this type of behavior is damaging for you (individually) and for the business you represent.
I can understand that the staff members maybe have had a rough day, as it was my own rough day which led me to visit. Still, I wish there was some consideration for the fact that their layout involves an open plan and a bar area that places customers within earshot of staff...
