The Fonda is a great mid-size venue in Hollywood. It's a block away from the train station, there's plenty of parking around, lots of good dinner options before shows... It's truly an easy place to navigate. The sound is really great, whether you're on the floor or balcony. You can easily maneuver yourself into a good sight line and it's super fun to dance on the dance floor. The rooftop is a rarity for any venue in Los Angeles, and it's certainly rare for Hollywood. You'll find good views from that rooftop, and they also project the show up there as well as the sound from the concert so if you need a break from the crowds, it's a nice place to get away. This is what makes it my favorite venue in L.A. Many others provide an outdoor space, but normally you're in an alley or somewhere more dodgy - but not here! There's never too long of a line at the bars either, now that I think about it. Or the restrooms - there are some on each floor! As far as the music goes, I've seen so many good acts here - Sofi Tukker, Metallica, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Thom Yorke, Soulwax, Charlotte Gainsbourg - and that's just in the last year alone. Coming up I'm excited to see Rostam and Phoenix! Not only all this but the Hollywood history of the building is really cool. I personally love the outrageous Bosch wallpaper. Give the history a Google!

I have to report a situation that just happened to me. I am 61 years old and tonight I went to a show at The Fonda theater. The artists are 2 DJs from the 90’s and after I purchased the tickets, unfortunately I had a problem in my right rib, possible fracture with deep pain and I had a proof from my doctor that wrote a statement and emailed me asking for an X Ray. When the show started I noticed an area with people sitting down and it was almost empty but it had one guy with a cane. I went there and stayed because I was afraid of people hitting on my ribs. Even though the security did not ask me to leave or anything, and because I am an honest citizen who dislikes taking advantage of any situation whatsoever, I decided to be super cool and honest and tell that security my story. But unfortunately he didn’t give a damn and told me he was not a doctor. I decided to tell him about my problem because I wanted my husband to be close to me. He told me: “I am not a doctor, you will have to ask the manager, otherwise I will have to escort you out” I was a little shocked with the rudeness taking into consideration the fact that I am old, therefore at minimum he could have treated me with respect just because of that. Adding to the fact that I am in pain, therefore with very little patience, I still went to talk to the manager to prove my rights. I thought it was very rude but I went ahead and talked to the manager and he let me stay there. I went back and told this first rude security that he should have been more flexible and let me show the doctor’s report. He got offended with the way I talked to him because I said something rude but I was feeling humiliated. After that he called the same manager and told him that I was rude to him and the manager went ahead and took his side and decided to be rude to me as well, asking me why I was not sitting down like everybody else in that area, meaning, debating about, doubting about my situation. I then answered because I had a rib problem and it hurts more if you sit down. At that point someone with no apparent physical issues took the spot that I was initially occupying and even though that person didn’t have any signs of disability, nobody had any problems about it and the security never bothered him. Along with this guy who was completely normal, a girl came over and danced like a maniac and nobody ever argued anything or disturbed her and the guy. I felt humiliated about the whole situation, I am wondering if it is because I am old?? Ageism? Is this the new problem I will have to face in California? Is this the price we pay for being honest and trying to do the right thing in life?

Had a great time there! The staff was friendly and kind genuinely seemed to like their jobs from the metal detector people to the bartenders. They also had a water fill station with cups and the theater gave an old Hollywood feel. The doors opened at 7pm I was in line at 7pm GA wrapping around the corner yet I got in in 33 minutes. They seemed organized and level headed. The theater itself is so nice and small it's not cramped I still had a good view even from the bar area. If i would've had GA and gotten there at 8pm I still would've had a good view. They also had small side raised platforms which my cousin enjoyed because she's 5 feet tall. The place looked like a cross between an opera house and a greek painting it's pretty cool I would pay to sit on their floor and just look around. The show went by well and we genuinely enjoyed everything this theater had to offer. It gives NOVO vibes but better no stupid columns that block the view. i look forward to the next time I come here cause I was genuinely worried cause I had never been there.

I saw Frances Karel and Max last night and it was epic. The atmosphere has me still pumped the day after. It was my first live concert since pandemic started. I really liked that one can pay for parking online or via an app before hand to the lot right next to the Fonda Theatre. The staff was super prompt to check for vaccinations, IDs, and tickets while folks were still in line. They had a streamline security process for entry. The doors opened at 8 and the show started promptly on time. The sound system is really well integrated and balance so I didn't feel too much bass unlike some other venues. I could hear the singer clearly along with the accompanying instruments. I had a great view from the floor and never felt crowded. They also have a small balcony and I really like the intimate nature of the theatre. I will definitely make the trek again from the Laguna all the way up to Hollywood/LA to attend more shows at the Fonda.

Security at this venue are needlessly rude and abrasive to concert goers. I went to see worakls last night with my sister and before we left the venue we went to use the bathroom. When I exited the womens bathrooms security told me I had to exit the building immediately. I explained I was simply waiting for my sister outside the bathrooms, and they proceeded to jostle and aggressively try to usher me out the front door without her. It was so unnecessary as she exited the bathroom less than a minute later. I told the man in question this behaviour was rude and then he suggested I drive home drunk afterwards (like go get in a car crash, essentially) It was insane to be treated this way when I was just trying to stay together with my sister as we’re both petite women and we don’t separate from each other for events like this for safety’s sake.

💞Saw Chicano artist Cuco play at the Fonda last month on Valentine’s day.❣️ It was my first time going to the Fonda & had An amazing time. At the end of the show, about an hour after it was over, a lot of fans (including myself) met Cuco from the back entrance of the Fonda (it’s in an alley close to the LA Fitness parking). I’m assuming that’s where a lot of the artists exit out from. The show was sold out and had two levels. ((All was GA.)) 🧼 The bathrooms were clean and had a lady cleaning very often. 🍹 As for drinks, two alcoholic drinks were $30 which can be average or a little pricy for some people out there. ((It was a fireball & vodka tonic.)) 🚘 AS FOR PARKING, the Fonda was charging $25 but if you just drive around the corner to N. El Centro Ave & Vista Del Mar Ave. you can find parking for $10 at the LA Fitness parking lot.
