Hollywood Boulevard is an iconic street located in the heart of Los Angeles, California. It stretches approximately 1.5 miles and is known for its vibrant atmosphere, famous history, and numerous attractions.
The street is lined with a mix of historic and modern buildings, showcasing the character of Hollywood. The Walk of Fame is a highlight, allowing visitors to stroll along and spot the stars of their favorite celebrities. True Story- Drew Barrymore was at her star when I walked by and talking about her show. I’ve also seen multiple influencers and it’s very common to sight a celebrity grocery shopping at the Trader Joe’s off Vine.
You’ll find restaurants, souvenir shops, vintage shops, coffee, and ice cream stores, crystal shops, clothing stores, Funko and Amoeba Music.
It can be crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. With the hustle and bustle it’s advisable to be:
*mindful of your surroundings *if you interact with street performers they want a tip *use crosswalks and look before crossing *scooters look fun, but are dangerous with the amount of people and cars it can get hot during the day if the sun is out and cool once the sunsets *it’s a busy city street where you will find all walks of life
Where to start? The stretch between Ovation / Chinese Theater and Funko / Amoeba music is where it’s all at. Park at one end or the other and walk down one side of the street and then back on the other side. So much to do and see along the way. It’s not as crowded early morning, the crowds start after lunch and go into the evening. After about 9pm you find a change in crowds, those that enjoy the night life and clubs. If you have kids I recommend a day walk.
The blvd got a bad rep after 2020, business shut down and it was dirty and loaded with drugged out homeless. The city is really working hard to clean the area up and make it a safe environment for all to visit. They have an organization who have a heavy presence on helping tourists find their way around and stay safe. If you have questions just ask.
A few of my favorite places in the area - Amoeba Music (record, music store, merch, and unique gifts) *Funko - a store that feels like Disney Land inside, life size immersible‘s and photo opps. *hollywood and vine - famous cross-street with great view of Capital Records
Also just 2 blocks over you’ll find Sunset Blvd that is known for more restaurants. *sugarfish - sushi *sweetgreens - salads *dennys and Starbucks *El Centro & Sunset - Great view of Hollywood Sign *tendergreens- fresh healthy meat and vegetables *Chipotle *Katsuya- sushi *Superba Food & Bread- variety food & drinks - outdoor patio *running goose - variety food and outdoor patio *Tocaya - modern Mexican *Micelis - Italian *Wood and Vine - variety food and outdoor patio *Chinese Dumpling House - Chinese food *Papi Tacos and Churros - best tacos in LA -...

Read moreThe Hollywood Walk of Fame is undoubtedly one of the most iconic attractions in Los Angeles, known for its star-studded sidewalk honoring the biggest names in the entertainment industry. However, my recent visit left me feeling somewhat let down, as the reality of the experience didn’t quite match the glitz and glamour I had anticipated.
First and foremost, the condition of the Walk of Fame itself was disappointing. The sidewalk is often filthy and littered with debris, detracting from the allure of the stars embedded in the pavement. Many of the stars appeared worn down and faded, making it hard to appreciate the names of the celebrities they represent. It felt as though the weight of the history and fame associated with the walk was overshadowed by the lack of maintenance and care for the area.
While I enjoyed searching for the names of my favorite actors, musicians, and filmmakers, the environment surrounding the Walk of Fame left much to be desired. The area can be overwhelmingly crowded, filled with tourists snapping selfies and street performers vying for attention. While this lively atmosphere can be fun, it also contributes to a sense of chaos that detracts from the experience of honoring the stars.
Despite these drawbacks, I did find joy in locating the names of beloved celebrities and discovering some hidden gems among the stars. It was a nostalgic experience to see the names of those who have shaped the entertainment industry and to take a moment to reflect on their contributions. Spotting a favorite star made me smile, and it reminded me of the joy that these individuals have brought into my life.
In summary, while the Hollywood Walk of Fame has its moments of charm and nostalgia, the overall experience can feel underwhelming due to the dirty surroundings and lack of maintenance. It’s still a fun activity to search for the names of beloved celebrities, but be prepared for a less-than-glamorous environment. If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out for the experience, but don’t set your expectations too high when it comes to the ambiance and upkeep of this...
