First of all RIP to the previous business, as this used to be a drive up coffee spot. A friend saw Royal Lobster LA on TikTok and shared it with me then next thing you know, we were headed over to try it out. I must say I was skeptical at first especially being from Boston, where have tried many rolls.
Parking: not many spaces on the lot about 3-4 max but there seem to be additional street parking available on the side neighborhood.
The Menu: really really simple since there were only two items - lobster rolls or lobster salad.
The Price: on the day we went, the market price was $29.99 which really wasn’t too bad. Again, on the East coast, lobster rolls can be well over $30. If you want more meat here, it is $12 as they jam pack the lobster on the same sized bun.
The space: dining is outside with several tables setup next to heating lamps. There is a restroom available and what seem to be an indoor space if needed but majority of seating was outdoors.
The food: These were the Connecticut style lobster rolls and not the Maine style ones. Connecticut is served warm with melted butter while the Maine ones are served cold with mayo drenched lobster meat. I personally preferred Connecticut style. The bun was toasted perfectly along with juicy and fresh lobster meat (wicked good) The owner (i assume) said the lobster meat is from Maine and shipped from Boston (music to my ears!). The lobster roll was accompanied by a side of coleslaw, handful of chips, slice of lemon, and a large drop of dipping sauce that looks similar to thousand islands. It all came together so well although might be a little light for some heavy eaters. It was a very legitimate roll though. Honestly, one of the better one’s Ive had not only in LA but in general. Only downside is if you’re hungry then you might want to get two if you can afford it.
Consensus: will definitely be back! Not too far of a drive being in ktown versus driving to Malibu or another beach city for some rolls. Hopefully they add some clam chowah...
Read moreDedicated to the simple yet sublime pleasure of lobster. With a menu that’s stripped down to two simple choices—lobster roll or lobster salad— this spot has a singular focus: delivering the freshest, most flavorful lobster possible.
I went for the lobster roll. The portion is generous, to say the least, as most lobster rolls leave you wishing for a bit more. The bun, however, was a bit of a letdown. It was a little on the dry side, lacking that buttery, toasted crispiness that you expect. I found myself reaching for my water to help it along, which isn’t exactly ideal.
On the side you’ve got house coleslaw, chips, and garlic mayo. The slaw was tasty—creamy and tangy—but could’ve used a bit more of a peppery kick to liven it up. The chips were solid. Initially, I thought they were homemade, but nope—store-bought. Still, they were nice and crunchy, especially when dipped in that fantastic garlic mayo. Honestly, that mayo was the hero that saved the roll. Dip in, and suddenly the bun’s shortcomings were somewhat erased.
The two guys running the place are super kind, attentive, and they clearly care about their customers. They were wiping down tables constantly, keeping everything spotless, which is always a good sign when you're grabbing a quick bite.
It is chill enough for a lunch break, despite being on a main street. It’s not the kind of place you sit and stay—it’s more of a “satisfy your craving and go” spot, and while the bun could use a bit of improvement, the quality of the lobster and the friendly service help to...
Read moreI gave two stars because of the flavor is not bad but not amazing is very simple is just boiled lobster with some butter and garlic and tiny spice of old bay seasoning , I was disappointed of how little $35 give you at this place the bun is a small hot dog bun and I mean small maybe 4” and the lobster was very little not packed like you see in the pictures they literally give you a one inch tiny coleslaw and maybe 7 potatoes chips to me is not worth the money the guy that makes the sandwiches had a bit of an attitude too because I went with my son and I’m the only one that ordered the sandwich because my son have more common sense than me and didn’t Won’t to waste the money! The guy seemed annoyed also because I ordered the smallest sandwich , I just wanted to try it $35 is expensive enough for something this small I’m glad I didn’t spend more than this. They have two more sizes and they’re not that much bigger and the prices are way too much, I prefer a sea food boil or make it yourself at home you get more and cheaper many recipes on you tube or just do like this place does boil the lobster melt butter with some garlic and if you add parsley is even better that’s all! Also get a better beard like a nice artisan bread,...
