BEWARE THIS LOCATION. PARKING IS A TOTAL SCAM. Pulled in and was told I had a 10 minute grace period when given a ticket at 8:28pm tonight. I was back in line to leave at 8:35pm. Handed my ticket to the next attendant at 8:36pm after waiting for the two cars ahead of me to get out. When he scanned it it showed a $3 fee. I explained that I had the 10 minute grace period. He said, "system says 11 minutes." I explained I had not even been there 9 minutes at that point and he laughed it off. He said, "Hey, bro, I'm just here." So I paid the fee and told him that his partner was scamming and he said, "Yea, he's probably scamming." Unbelievable system. Seems clear that they're using live attendants instead of an electronic ticket system so that they can super easily get away with this total scam.
All that being said, the Salt & Straw is clean and the staff was super friendly. I wish I had gotten the name of the gentleman who helped me because he really went above and beyond during my short visit. Five stars to him, the ice cream, and the interior of this store.
Unfortunately, I would absolutely NEVER go to this location again as long as those scammers are allowed to continue their scheme.
UPDATE** I reached out via email on 3/31, as you requested in your reply. I have not received any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLocked and loaded!!! Brentwood is here and hallelujah. I moved away from the Abbott Kinney location a few years back and was ecstatic when a little birdie (email) told me about Brentwood opening. It was cool, it was clean, it had pints of Almond Brittle and Salted Ganache left that made my day. Also got the Pink Rose and Watermelon sherbet that didnāt even make it home it was so good. Creamy, yet vegan. Magical. Raphael is the best ice cream barista Iāve ever had. Made sure my scoops were perfectly round and started over if they werenāt. Iāve never experienced that type of service but let me tell you, made me feel like a queen deserving nothing but the best. 10 stars.
Dearest corporate magical creators. I have been a loyal salt and straw lover for 6 years since moving to the West Coast. If you bring back Almond Brittle and Salted Ganache to the permanent menu, I promise to be forever indebted to you. I will line my future home with walls of it and solve world peace. There is simply no better ice cream flavor to ever exist and the world will be a better place because of it. We deserve it. You deserve it. Letās do it together š«¶š¼

Today's trip featured a new employee who was very well-intentioned, rather knowledgeable for someone who just started working there an incredibly kind to both myself and my daughter. (That's me, she's saying over my shoulder.) The flavors were on point in liding the challenging gingerbread. Salt & straw remains a bit pricey, with each single scoop at $6.50 and a kid's cone almost $5. The size of each scoop is a bit smallish, but the flavor and quality is "incredible" (per my daughter), and I'd tend to agree. This little mini mall now has sugarfish next door for dinner and an amazing dessert place just down the walk. Date night in a pinch!! Well met, ice cream...
