I said I wasn’t gonna wrote a book but they deserve every bit of what I’m about to say😭 As a proud Texan with high standards for soul food, I can honestly say Southern Soul in Los Angeles is hands down top 2 of the best soul food I’ve ever had in my life and I don’t say that lightly. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the kind of warmth and hospitality that immediately reminded me of home. But the real magic happened in the kitchen. The men who prepared my meal didn’t just cookit, they put their heart, soul, and love into every bite. You can taste it. Every forkful felt like a Sunday dinner at grandma’s house. The fried shrimp was seasoned to perfection crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The greens were tender and full of soul, the mac and cheese was creamy and comforting, and don’t even get me started on the cornbread and yams. Whew baby! I could’ve eaten a whole tray by myself. These gentlemen are culinary artists, and honestly, if I could pack them up and bring them back to Texas with me, I would in a heartbeat. LA is lucky to have them. If you’re ever in Los Angeles and craving real Southern soul food that tastes like it was made by family, do yourself a favor and stop by Southern Soul. It’s not just a meal; It’s an experience. One that fed my belly and my heart.

This is not a dine in restaurant but like a Togo/catering building filled with different food joints. Parking is limited I got lucky street parking in a loading zone with my emergency lights on to pick up my food. I ordered it online and picked it up with a very friendly service. Food was delicious. I got The Soul fried shrimp tossed in Buffalo lemon pepper sauce comes with rice and a corn bread with choices of 2 sides I got Red beans w chicken andouille sausage and Greens w smoked turkey and I got a complimentary bottle of juice! I checked their Instagram @SouthernSoul.LA for their latest menu updates. The buffalo lemon sauce was flavorful on the salty side, next time I want to try the Garlic butter shrimp! For the buttery flavor! Their green with smoked turkey was my favorite the meat was tender and seasoned perfectly and a good source fiber.

You guys I never write reviews this food is tooooo good I never get Mac and cheese cuz people just put VELVEETA cheese in the middle with shredded cheese at the top and it taste like a damn Kraft cheese pie but yall I was shocked with this Mac and cheese man it taste like a roux was actually made yall different cheeses sooo good and the seasoning yall I swear yall gotta try it. I literally never get soul food cuz people don’t do it right but this was fireeeee salmon seasoned so well yams the perfect amount of sweet and the rice is beautiful.

We decided in our trip to LA to find a good soul food restaurant. We had heard of many others but this one was closest to where we were shopping. It is located inside a share use kitchen with many other restaurants. I was a bit skeptical but when greet by Chef Darryl and Head Chef Terran it was a go. This food was absolutely THE BOMB. We tried several items and everything was so good we took a bite, were COMPLETELY satisfied we closed it up because this is that food that is prepared with from the SOUL. The servings are very large and can be shared or have more than one meal. This is that food you get from Grandma's kitchen. The kind we had to take home, put a towel in our laps and sit at the table!!!!!! Lip smackin'...
