I said I wasn’t gonna wrote a book but they deserve every bit of what I’m about to say😭
As a proud Texan with high standards for soul food, I can honestly say Southern Soul in Los Angeles is hands down top 2 of the best soul food I’ve ever had in my life and I don’t say that lightly.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the kind of warmth and hospitality that immediately reminded me of home. But the real magic happened in the kitchen. The men who prepared my meal didn’t just cookit, they put their heart, soul, and love into every bite. You can taste it. Every forkful felt like a Sunday dinner at grandma’s house.
The fried shrimp was seasoned to perfection crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The greens were tender and full of soul, the mac and cheese was creamy and comforting, and don’t even get me started on the cornbread and yams. Whew baby! I could’ve eaten a whole tray by myself.
These gentlemen are culinary artists, and honestly, if I could pack them up and bring them back to Texas with me, I would in a heartbeat. LA is lucky to have them.
If you’re ever in Los Angeles and craving real Southern soul food that tastes like it was made by family, do yourself a favor and stop by Southern Soul. It’s not just a meal; It’s an experience. One that fed my belly...

It is located inside a share use kitchen with many other restaurants. I was a bit skeptical but when greet by Chef Darryl and Head Chef Terran it was a go. This food was absolutely THE BOMB. We tried several items and everything was so good we took a bite, were COMPLETELY satisfied we closed it up because this is that food that is prepared with from the SOUL. The servings are very large and can be shared or have more than one meal. This is that food you get from Grandma's kitchen. The kind we had to take home, put a towel in our laps and sit at the table!!!!!! Lip smackin'...
