I do food delivery, but that’s not a reason to abuse me. This happened to me when I picked up order from Speranza restaurant. Giving me the order out a young, not well mannered man asked me “confirm pick up then show the phone”. When you swipe “Deliver “ button the App sounds and spells the customer”s address. I did confirm and explained him that here’s a sound confirming delivery. He was demanding to see my phone screen. Of course I refused. That small thing is my own thing! I mustn’t show ! But his “thank you” sounded in absolutely different manner: “Then, get out of the here” yelled at me. That was very rude. I am doing my job. I delivery food from restaurants to customers. I am a part of this job. I do this restaurant”s business too! I don’t deserve that manner against me! I left the order at counter, and called to support service to cancel delivery. Because I didn’t want get money being abused. That guy started showing me the door ,yelling, showing me gestures that means “leave my space”. While I was talking by phone about cancellation came up to me a woman who’s name is Hiu, introducing herself as an owner of Speranza restaurant. I explained what happened. Yes,she apologized. Thanks for that. But later I got a phone call from Uber team. The Speranza restaurant called them and gave a wrong explanation, like I hadn’t had an order number that’s why restaurant member asked show phone screen. This fiction doesn’t work because all information including order number are know (on app). Just ask me. This restaurant probably blooming and they don’t care about others around. They don’t care that delivery person is also worker, not servant. I will just...
Read moreStepping off the street past the red plastic curtains take you to another place. It’s a cozy warm front yard in Puglia, and your new friends you met at the lido are having you over. Twist; they aren’t italian but transplants from LA who used to work in music.
A huge multi-generational family took up the center tables while dates were dotted around them. It did take a sec to get attention from the staff, but big tables do that to any restaurant. Once we placed an order we were off, and everything paced out nicely. Bruschetta is finished with raw garlic for a bright bite, and the fennel salad has a touch of horseradish that electrifies its pollen flavors. Stealing that.
All the pasta is handmade, even the buccatini. They pulled off! The Amatriciana has a wonderful American breakfast quality because its made with bacon in lieu of guanciale and the puttanesca is finished with anchovies at the end instead of the beginning so they shine over the capers instead of vice versa.
Tiramisu has thick rich mascarpone cream and I think a touch of hazelnuts in there. Marzipan cookies to finish and they forgot a drink but offered to comp us something to go which is really sweet. I never expect a flawless experience; dining in like a conversation and both sides need grace. Speranza has...
Read moreWe showed up around 6:30 with our 6 month old baby. The restaurant was nearly empty with only one family sitting at a table. They asked if we had a reservation and we didn't. It was a Wednesday night and again, place looked empty. They said "well we will need to put you somewhere out here or you can sit inside. It was very dark outside so I opted to sit inside since I needed to have enough light to feed my baby. We got seated inside and could barely have s conversation over the music- they were blasting Katy Perry (???) I even got a little concerned about my baby's eardrums so we asked if we could sit near a window outside so that we had some visibility. They essentially said no. I was so confused!! Again they had ONE family that evening and even if they had reservations coming in for the night there's no way they couldnt serve a family of three seated anywhere in their restaurant. It's not like they didn't have room. The waiters seemed like teenagers follow orders instead of entertaining and accommodating guests. I believe if the owners were there they'd have been very upset with how inflexible they were being and probably very embarrassed about the blasting music. I live in the area and I will not be recommending this place to anyone......
