This is the best French school hands down, with the best teachers. I've been to other French schools or tutors around LA (I won't mention who or where), but CouCou outshines everyone, by a lot.
Other schools do a poor job of teaching French to native English speakers, whereas CouCou teachers 'get' what it means to be an English speaker struggling to learn French.
The proprietary materials CouCou uses are SO much better than other textbooks and dry books from other schools or tutors.
Last by not least, the profs and staff are the best part of CouCou! The teachers are all so fun, cool, interesting and awesome people. They make classes FUN. Especially the conversation classes: this is what convo classes should be, where 80-90% of the talking is done by 'our' side of the table (meaning, the students). Some other places the profs talk 'at' the class and it feels like a boring college lecture.
Not CouCou! The convo classes are super fun, engaging, interactive, comfortable and stress-free. Everyone gets a chance to talk in an easy-going environment without judgment.
If you've been debating learning French or signing up for a class- just do it! You...
Read moreI have been a student for 2 years at Coucou Los Angeles, and absolutely adore this team of teachers-turned-friends. I speak French fluidly and at a proficient level, so finding a community where I could continue my French in a conversational setting with like-minded creative individuals was a tricky feat! I have had nearly every member of the Coucou family as a teacher, and they are a collectively warm, easy-going, and hip group of young creatives who are interested in the same things as me (travel, film, music, cuisine, the arts). The learning experience is curated at all levels, as I have friends in beginner/intermediate level who are return students. The team at Coucou could not be further from the silly French stereotype of being snobby or standoffish. I highly recommend taking a course here. You will "sans doute" be joining the Coucou fan club and planning your next overseas trip to France, well-prepared to engage with locals! Bisous à ma...
Read moreI have been a student at Coucou for 5 months now, and I will continue to be a student for as long as they are here. I started in their level 5 (out of 7) class due to having already studied French before and I have been very happy to have joined another Francophone community that really cares about the students and their passion for the language and French culture. They are very flexible with your needs and provide a lot of support in helping you reach your goals. They have been very inclusive on how they run their school and have made my classes very fun and engaging. Being in Cynthia's class is a delight as she brings a lot of personality to her method of teaching and is patient with every student to make each lesson fun and worth your time and money. If you are looking for a Francophone community to join I would not hesitate to try out Coucou as they also provide many other activities and classes to really live the...
