Subway — Restaurant in Los Angeles

This particular location seems to have implemented a scheme to mislead customers into paying $.25 more for their meal deals. If you order a $6 meal deal you will be charged $6.25. If you select "Add a Meal", on the menu for $2.50, you will be charged $2.75. You are given the medium size drink instead of the pictured 21 oz drink. They have the smaller cups, but they are out of view underneath the counter. This seems to be this franchise's strategy since this silent upgrade is not practiced at any other Subway I have been to. Not all of the sandwich artists practice this if they are at the register, but if the manager is there, he will definitely add the $.25 and give you the larger drink, without asking. Today I used a $3.00 6 inch coupon and asked to for the $2.50 Add a Meal. The total was clearly too high and I asked him to explain. He rerung the order using $2.50 so that reduced the total, but was clearly annoyed. When I asked for the 2 cookie option, in lieu of the chips, he said I couldn't do that since he had already entered the "code" for the chips. I don't normally review anything, but I had the most pleasant experience here today that I thought it would be rude of me NOT to say something! The staff here is AMAZING- super personable, fast, and really made my day. Had personal recommendations, complimented me on my clothes, and encouraged me to return- which I absolutely will now that I went there. At a chain restaurant, it's really all about the service since the food is identical from location to location, so subway should be proud that they have an amazing team here, representing their company.
