The (W)rapper tower, designed by Eric Owen Moss Architects, is a sustainable high-rise building in Los Angeles that can withstand earthquakes and allow occupants to return to the office the next day thanks to its base isolated structure, which is the only high-rise commercial office building in the USA with a base isolated design. Other high-rise buildings that encounter similar seismic activities are likely to suffer significant damage and may need to undergo demolition or significant reconstruction before they can reoccupied. The project combines existing and new buildings to add density and promote the use of public transportation, with reduced availability of car parking and a direct pedestrian link from the Culver City Metro rail station to the building lobby. The tower's environmental strategies produce a high-performance building envelope, equivalent to an elevated LEED Silver sustainability rating. The (W)rapper tower is the first of three new towers designed by EOMA...
