I have gone to this store for many years and I've had a great experience. I was sold when I saw the price was originally $1.25 per roll! Now it is $3.25 per roll unless it is a special item., which I'm not super excited about but it is still cheaper than most sushi places. The food is always great whenever I come here. I never have complaints about the food. Today I went with my mom and my boyfriend. When we arrived it didn't take too long to get seated. They put our order in and we got a couple rolls almost instantly. We each ordered at least 3 rolls. I ordered about 5 rolls part of one of which I was able to take a picture. My photo isn't too great because that item is basically completely finished because it was so delicious. In the photo is the Salmon Truffle Sashimi, which is one of my favorites there. This item consists of five Slices of Salmon topped with ponzu sauce, a type of masago, and green onions. It is a specialty item so it's $6.25. After we got those couple of rolls, there was a long wait for our last four. It was pretty busy at the time but we came in before the crowd. We told one of the waitresses and she said okay and kept on walking. We had noticed some of the same rolls we were waiting on came to a couple 2 seats over and they were confused because they didn't order it. It wasn't until they told another waitress that it wasn't what they ordered that they came to help us. So, soon after that we got the rest of our rolls, maybe ordered one or two more, got the check and left. Other than the long wait it was as usual a great experience. I am a little more understanding because a big group did come in right after us. I would recommend this place if you want some...
Read moreI was so disappointed with the service at this Sushi Stop in Culver City. The Sushi Stop in Pasadena is perfect, but this one is terrible. First thing I had a problem with was the waiters or waitress getting my simple order correct. They charged me for an item I didn't order. My second problem was the atmosphere, which was pretty uptight, like they weren't use to certain guest. My son knocked over one of the sauce trays and one of the men who stood in the middle area preparing the food act as if my son took a dump at the table. His reaction was way over the top, as he points to the spilled sauce on the floor, waving over the waiter to clean it up. The waiters weren't pleasant. The food was fine until my order of the salmon skin salad was served with burnt lage salmon skin pieces. This is not my first time ordering this item that I loved at the Sushi Stop in Pasadena. The presentation of this meal reminded me of a pan of food I burnt and scraped out to throw away. The straw that broke the camal's back was the idea of me leaving a tip. One of the waiters felt as if he should recieve a tip. I do not tip for terrible service. The waiter with the attitude made sure to circle the "tip" portion of my receit. He then pointed to the black tray he returend my change on, indicating a tip. I do not tip bad service, point blank. This location needs to concentrate on service with a smile and making sure they have people's orders corrtect, as well as making sure the guest...
Read moreMy review is based on: Service Food quality Accuracy Cleanliness
Service: truthfully not the best. Infact one of the runners told me it was my fault the food came out the way it did, and I should have known. I get it- however there are ways to say things rather than being blatantly rude.
Food quality: as you can see by the photographs- some of the rolls came out straight greasy! We pressed on one and it oozed oil. We let our server know and be removed it off the bill. The teriyaki chicken was sooo dry we couldnt eat it and left it. We ended up leaving hungry and going elsewhere once we paid.
Accuracy: I wrote down exactly how I wanted everything. And none of it was followed. I didnt get the extra cup of ice, I didnt get no wasabi they still brought it out. From a business perspective- what a waste. My roll came with crab in it - which I did not want in it. My tempura was incorrect. It was just a mess, by the time they wanted to remake it I was over it and just wnated to leave.
Cleanliness: the place was picked up, sort of.. But there were roaches. And that was disgusting! I let the server know but it was just an unenthusiastic, oh I'll let someone know.
Needless to say all three of us got SICK! I mean like we had to come home to use our own facilities sick. I will not be coming back.
Parking- valet on the side and metered Tiny patio but possible...
