The food was good and overall look of the restaurant was beautiful. However, my experience with the employees was TERRIBLE. Our waitress did not bring any of the condiments (ginger, soy sauce, wasabi etc). We had to ask to bring the soy sauce. At first we thought its fine it happens we forget things, but it just kept on getting worse. We placed our food, but their was still no ginger/wasabi given. So we asked again, the waitress said I will be right back and she just never came back. Someone else brought our first roll and we ate at and still no ginger. We asked a different waiter to bring the ginger and wasabi and STILL no ginger and wasabi. We get to our third roll and at this point, not only was the ginger and wasabi not at our table, they messed up our order AND drinks. Finally our waitress showed up and we said you never brought the ginger. So she Finally brought it and we were waiting for our last order. We waited 10-15 min and realized she did not place the last order. So we called her again and she CLEARLY forgot to place it. So the last roll Finally came in and we ate it. We asked for the bill which came out to be $102 etc, and usually we always tip the waiter/waitress but for the first time I was so upset that I just did not tip because the service was terrible. (note they do not subcharge). THIS IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING. So I go outside with my friend waiting to get our car from the valet. And I see the waitress that served us going up to customers outside showing a receipt. She comes up to us and shows us the receipt asking if this is ours. We check and see that it is and so we asked why she was asking. She said "where is my tip".....This waittres has the AUDACITY TO COME OUTSIDE and show the receipt to strangers that has CARD information and asking for her tip!!! I've never had an employee running outside saying to give me my tip before. I was just done after that....
Read moreDinner date night at Teru Sushi was an absolutely wonderful experience!
I loved the little entry walkway just outside that gives the feeling you’ve been transported away from Ventura Blvd with the relaxing little bench, pond, and other decor.
The hostess inside was warm, welcoming, and had us seated immediately. Service from the waitress was also very quick and attentive with making sure we had any items or refills as needed.
On to the sushi!! There were so many appealing sounding options from the creative menu names and accompanying descriptions, but we ended up going with the Sushi Combination, ‘Studio City’ rolls, and some Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes. For drinks, we did a Strawberry Nigori Sake, which was a deliciously light and fruity accompaniment to all our sushi!
I loved everything we ordered, and also found the portions quite generous, with both of us being left very full. A few notes: For the Sushi Combination, I loved that it came with a little side of miso soup. Relaxing and soothing, miso soup is always a must for me at Japanese restaurants! Also, a lot of the sushi for the sushi combination plate had a bit of wasabi on them…that wasn’t an issue to me, but if you’re someone who doesn’t care for wasabi, such as my partner, that may bother you a bit. The ‘Studio City’ rolls were definite highlights of the meal for the both of us - FULL of salmon, cream cheese, avocado, tempura batter, spicy mayo, AND more….it all went together surprisingly well and was an amazing fusion of flavor, creaminess, & slight heat that ended up working perfectly! The Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes were also very solid and delicious to enjoy!
We loved everything we ordered for our dinner, and the ‘Studio City’ rolls are a MUST ORDER! From ambiance, service, and the sushi/other food itself, it was all absolutely a 5 out of 5!! I highly recommend and will be returning in the future to try more...
Read moreTeru’s sushi is innovative, delicious, pure orgasmic and fantastically priced. The sushi selection ranges from the ordinary to the extraordinary; featuring classic rolls such as the ever-so-tasty California Roll to the whimsical with rolls such as “Slow your roll” (Spicy tuna, crabmeat & jalapeno wrapped in soy paper topped with tataki tuna and crispy onions then drizzled with ponzu & chili sauce), and my favorite-ly named “Geisha Lips” (no rice shrimp tempura & Spicy Tuna wrapped with albacore with spicy garlic sauce).
They even have pleasing appetizers such as Shishito pepper and my favorite Mushroom & Brussels Sprouts. The Brussels are simply amazing and a must have as they are perfectly cooked and drenched in an amazing sauce that if I found the recipe for would bathe in its deliciousness daily. Really you have to have it!
If you are looking for a unique and tasty addition to your sushi experience you have to try the “Heart Attack”. This amazing dish is comprised of a deep fried Shishito Peppers stuffed with spicy tuna then drizzled with eel sauce. It’s super filling and has amazing flavors.
Service here is always great and reservations are encouraged but not required. Parking is valet only and the valet attendant is SUPER sweet so I would recommend valet, but there is meter street parking if you prefer not to wait or don’t have the cash. Additionally, the restaurant is super gorg and is perfect for a date night or...
