I will NEVER eat at CRAVE Cafe in Studio City again. I was a longtime customer, until 2:35pm Tuesday, September 13, 2016. My sister and I came in for lunch. After we paid for our lunch order and ordered two breadpuddings to go (she gets them everytime she comes to town, to take home), and sat down, I went back to the counter to check out the desserts. I asked one of the people behind the counter if the cannoli had nuts. She didn't know and referred to me the cashier, who told me, "NO". I asked a second time to be sure and was told "No" again. So I ordered it. After I bit into it, allergic reaction! IT HAD NUTS!!!!!! I told one of the servers, a very niced yourg man who rushed to alert the manager. He came back and told me that the manager offered to refund the cannoli. WTH? I could die!!! Immediately the itching, nausea, difficulty breathing started and had to grab my epipen and run for the bathroom to use it. At no point the the manager even attempt to reach out to me and see if I hadn't died in his restroom or come to the table to speak to my sister. It was the poor server guy who made apologies. After, I was able to come out and get my bag to get to the hospital, I tried to speak to the manager about making sure that his staff knew what had nuts. Nut allergies are very common. He ignored me and made me wait to speak to him while he shot the breeze with another customer. He never looked at me and made no apologies. When I tried to say that he needs to advise his staff about which foods have nuts, he blew me off. He could have at least offered to replace the Epipen I had to use to keep from dying in his restaurant. So Im sure he won't miss my business or the business of the people I know. The lack of care or concern was unbelievable. Oh yeah, while I was in the bathroom, he had the waiter refund the cannoli and leave the money...
Read moreCrave started out as a promising experience, but quickly turned into a dumpster fire. My first time at Crave is also my last.
To start out, Crave is very expensive for what it is. It’s similar to quick-serve at a theme park. You place your order at the counter, and they give you a number. Coffee is a whopping $5.00. Small Lemonade. Same thing.
The cashier taking the orders was friendly, and accommodating. That was where
I ordered the Chicken and Waffles, with a side of Bacon and a Lemonade. My total came to nearly $30. When I went to pay, I attempted to leave a tip before being informed that the company takes all the credit card tips, leaving nothing for the service staff. I’m sorry, but if I’m paying $30 for a cheap breakfast, the last thing I would want to do is chip in another 20% to the company coffers. The fact they don’t disclose this is shady, and reason enough to make me not want to return, but it gets worse.
After waiting nearly 25-minutes for my food, it wasn’t remotely tasty. The waffles were ice cold and stale. The bacon was soggy and wet, and the chicken tenders were unappealing.
The food runner with the blue Mohawk has an absolutely vile attitude. She was crass, unhelpful and absolutely useless if you need anything at all, aside from dumping a plate of food onto various tables. Every request I made was met with an unfriendly sigh, followed by a less-than-friendly response, and zero follow-through.
I asked for sauce for the tenders, which never came. After asking twice, and another ten minutes of waiting, I politely took my plate to the counter and asked for a refund, which was promptly given.
The many reviews about the mega-poor service and the highly-overpriced, less-than-tasty food are true. I would avoid Crave, even as a...
Read moreMy girlfriend suggested this location, and from the way she described it, I assumed it would be a dine-in establishment as the last time she went there was when she was younger. Anyhow, as I entered the cafe, the mood wasn't what I had anticipated. Although the ambiance is fantastic, it's not my style. The music they were playing because it was more hip hop/rap than the relax, chill music that cafes play. Customer service is decent. I ordered a breakfast burrito with wheat bread, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. The typical breakfast items that my partner ordered—hash browns, pancakes, and eggs—were all excellent. Also delicious was the lemonade. Additionally, sweet potato fries were ordered, which I thoroughly enjoyed. You must have the sweet potatoes! Other than that, I love the food, but I didn't feel at home there. Nevertheless, I'd go back.
Note: Restrooms are available...
