The Town Cafe — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Good food, good price, nothing extraordinary but they always nail it with the eggs and meat cooking done-ness and the hash browns are good and the salsa they come with is the best...not to mention the country potatoes and French fries are always good too. Everything is freshly made. We’ve been customers for at least 3 years and we visit twice a month, and only once they undercooked my hash browns a little bit. They’re not cheap with the amount of avocado they give you, they give you a decent amount, unlike many other places I know. Their rib eye steak is always delicious, only add a little bit of salt because they avoid giving you salty steak, to me that is better. Also their fruit is always good and fresh. The only thing I would recommend to them is having a whole wheat pasta option, it’s so easy to cook pasta, and not that expensive, adding that option shouldn’t be much of a problem, maybe a whole wheat penne, they do have a whole wheat toast option, and I thank them for that. Also I haven’t seen any gluten free bread or pasta, just something that, GF intolerants need to know, in case that info isn’t anywhere in their website. I’m not quite sure their orange juice is fresh squeezed, but I order one for my son each visit, it would be even more appreciated if it was off course, but I understand it would cost a lot more too, so I doubt it is fresh squeezed. Anyways, they do have healthier options like spinach omelette with cottage cheese, and you have the option of having them with only whites. This place; 1000 times better than IHOP, and less expensive. Everything is very good to excellent; service, flavor of the food, portions and all of this at an affordable price. The food is done fairly quick, I think they have it all mastered to the particular type of restaurant this is, which is Diner, but they are after all, an old place. Also, very good waffles and hot cocoa! Really, the only thing is comparable with Ihop...

Service needs to improve. All the time is the same waitress/ waiter takes a long time to reach you and asked us for our drinks. They take like 30 mins to come back to the table to take our order. Then the food another hour to reach our table. Very disorganized. They expect a good tip but they are not earning it. I respect them I know they are working but if they take 2 hours to serve you and seem to forgotten you makes you not want to go again. The food was good they said that delay was because they get to many to go out orders. Also, they also there always something missing in your order. For example if you ask for cheese, bacon or avocado they are not cautious and the waiter tells you they did put bacon on it and you have to show them that is not in the requested order. Well they need to figure that out to serve better. I only saw two men in the kitchen. Maybe they need an extra hand and need to be more attentive with the customers eating at the restaurant. Very...

Thanks for the stake and the mashed potatoes, green beans 🫛, peas (I think something similar) broccoli 🥦 and carrot 🥕 and onion 🧅 etc. vegetable 🥒 also the cucumber sliced steamed or sauteed as well as the squash. Cost $40 or $50.
