We had 2 3 item bento combination, I chose beef teriyaki, chicken Katsu and a crunch roll. 2nd plate was chicken teriyaki, gyoza and a crunch roll, which they both came with white rice, salad and miso soup. We also ordered an 8 piece Mexican roll. Let me start with the beef and chicken teriyaki, the sauce was just way too soupy for my taste, the chicken teriyaki looked pale and bland and tasted as such. The beef tasted like a knockoff of Yoshinoya beef. The chicken Katsu seemed to be over-cooked (as you can see in the picture) and a bit too salty for my taste and the side dipping teriyaki sauce wasn't great either (this was my first time having chicken Katsu so I didn't know what to expect, but I gave it another go at a Hawaiian Ono a few days later and freaking loved it there). Now, the Gyozas were very good and tasty, the salad was super delicious as well. I loved the crunch roll and the Mexican roll was amazing! with that side of spicy mayo! (Which I also dipped my crunch rolls in). They also gave me a free face mask :). In the end, I'd never order their beef and chicken teriyaki again, but I'd definitely come back for that crunch and Mexican roll alone. Which is why I'm giving them 4 stars.

I don't have a refined pallette for sushi, so I really can't judge the quality of the sushi. However, it was tasty and I appreciated how the server was honest in saying that the curry dishes weren't what the restaurant was known for. All staff I interacted with were very friendly. I ended up getting a Bento box with: - salad - miso soup - 8 California rolls - 6 'crunch' rolls (had shrimp with crunch topping around the rice) - 5 salmon rolls It was all generally tasty.

I’ve been to Tomi sushi a handful of times & have really enjoyed their sushi selections. The prices are pretty good compared to other places in the surrounding area of Playa Del Rey & Marina del Rey. I’ve had their food to go as well as dining in. Most recently due to the nature of things I would say it wasn’t the best experience as the order took a bit longer than promised via DoorDash to be prepared for pickup. Other than that the food is always fresh & delicious!

Sushi was fine for the price nothing special by any means. Our biggest issue is the service and the false statement of the closing time which is stated at 9 pm. It’s a walk-in place so no reservations needed - my friend arrived earlier than me around 8:10 pm and was the only guest there so there was no wait. He was hounded by the host stating we need to be seated and I needed to show up right now and they can’t wait for me any longer. He waited outside but the host came out several times asking where I was and actually questioned him if I was standing him up. I arrived at 8:20 so he was asked and hounded about us being seated about 4x in 10 minutes. When we were seated we were told the kitchen was closing and we needed to put in our orders ASAP. We were confused as it was only 8:20 but put in our orders as requested. We got our food within 10-15 minutes and then within 10 minutes of that the waitress and host interrupt us 3-4x stating it was last call for the kitchen - we had previously confirmed when we put in our order at 8:20 we wouldn’t add anymore food and reconfirmed every time they checked in on us that we didn’t want to add to the order but they continued to pester us. At 8:45 the host came and placed the check on the table and within 5 minutes she came back to ask us to pay right then as they were closing the register. We paid then as requested and the host had the audacity to tell us to come earlier next time. That all occurred on a Friday night and we were pestered approximately 15x on needing to rush because we were “late” from 8:20 until we left around their supposed closing time of 9pm. If you choose to come here just know this will happen to you. It was extremely unprofessional and rude to be pestered and hounded the way we were. The host was extremely condescending the entire time as if we were wrong for coming in at 8:20 when they close at 9. If they want the business to be shut down by 9pm they should have the closing time be accurate and closer to 8 or something. We were the only people seated but several others walked by and were turned away well before 9pm because the restaurant was “closed” even though they had an “OPEN” sign and left door open until 9pm.

UPDATE: With the owners reply the issue is confirmed they “close” and refuse seating closer to 8 so plan accordingly if you choose...

Terrible service meets horrible food! We waited forever for our loose rolls. I was completely unimpressed. It was also stifling hot inside and uncomfortable. I’m so annoyed! It was my first time having sushi since delivering my new baby and it was by far the worst sushi I’ve ever had! The waitress forgot to bring us wasabi and ginger and after last call, we waited forever for the bill while she prepared for the restaurant next day (replenishing tables with soy sauce, etc.)! Obviously, we will never be back. This place is less frills the better. The chef doesn’t wash his hands and when he does, just water! Not even soap! Gross! Plus, the sushi just didn’t taste good! It was boring and don’t buy...
