An instant favorite. There tends to be a line here for the dinner service but, for good reason. Fish quality is great - if you know sushi you know to go on Tuesday or Friday - this place follows that pattern. All of their MP fish is high quality - Toro, King Crab, Uni, Sweet Shrimp, Black Snapper best of the MP list. Most people like the fish to rice proportion on nigiri here, I think it tends to be a bit fish heavy but, the rice is balled at a pretty perfect temp. For the quality, the price is actually a bit lower than I'd price it - good news in the sushi world! Atmosphere is lively and the sushi chefs are clearly enjoying themselves without missing the details. Japanese owned so you know the service is impeccable. Owner is on site 6 days a week (look for a middle aged Asian man in a straw fedora drinking a tall Sapporo - maybe even buy him one!) In my opinion, this is the best quality for the price on the westside - but if you tend to go for heavy loaded cut rolls or if you're ordering 6 orders of salmon sushi for dinner, help us keep the line shorter and go to Hara on Wilshire Thanks

** Quality of fish ** Waiting Staff ** Frequent Line ** Great pricing to quality ratio ** Lively...

We have been eating here for over 25 years, this is my favorite sushi restaurant near our home. We always go to Sakura for Mother’s Day and anytime I want sushi. This past Mother’s Day we came here for dinner, had a lovely dinner as always, then we went home. Later that night I was going over our dinner and how delicious it was when I realized we didn’t get our Sakura Roll. I told my husband and he handed me the bill to see if we were charged. I then saw that we didn’t get our Sakura Roll and our Monk Liver (ankimo sashimi). Of course I called them on Monday morning, but they are closed on Mondays. And when I got a hold of them on Tuesday, I was told too bad for you. There is nothing we can do for you. Even though we go there often and it was super crazy on Mother’s Day, we spent $300.00 and they cannot help us. I love the place but terrible customer...

Yelp and google information says closing time is at 10pm on Sat. We arrived at 8:50pm and told we needed to order right away as the kitchen is closing. Then the waiter forgot to enter my dinner selection, so by the time I remimded him that I was still waiting for my dish, he said it was no longer coming as the kitchen was closed. I undersrand mistakes happen, but as a business model what do you do to fix it. This may be a unique situatuon, but I was hoping they would go out of their way to make it right for their customers. But unfortunately they didn't. So not the most pleasant experience and the dish my wife got was just ok. In this economic climate, there is no room for poor customer service and mediocre food. There are other local joints that understand this and should be suported. Sakura, on the other hand, is not one of those places...

My friend and I arrived about 7p and surprisingly was able to get seated immediately. You know there is a wait if you see the silver chairs filled on the outside. Groups larger than 4 might have to wait a bit. There is only street parking available, so just realize it might be hard to find a parking spot. Aside from the parking and perhaps a brief wait, I enjoyed the food. The pic shows eel and some basic rolls we ordered. I also ordered a tasty dragon roll. Dinner combos are also available along with sushi combo plate. Be ready to take food home as it is definitely a place where you order a lot but might not finish.

We used to frequent Sakura quite a bit BC (before children), we hadn't been there for awhile. The quality there has always been good, but it seems like they've taken it to the "next level" (sorry for the cliche). The nigiri we had was excellent. The prices are a bit higher than the past, but again I can also tell it's even better than I remember. It doesn't hurt the pieces of the sashimi are amazing which justifies the price. And don't miss the miso sea bass when it's on the menu, it's truly amazing!

I ordered the salmon sashimi. I was thinking it would be two pieces (like usual), but it was a whole plate of salmon sashimi. Usually I wouldn't be upset, but every single piece of salmon that I ate tasted like nothing. I kept thinking what on earth is wrong here?! I finally realized the salmon wasn't fresh. It had most likely been frozen. Eel was delicious. The staff is very friendly, but I would not recommend this place if you want fresh sushi.
