So much has changed in the wake of the pandemic, but it's comforting to see that some things are still the same: Los Angeles traffic is as unbearable as ever, Nick Cannon and Phillip Rivers remain in heated competition over who can have more children, and Wood Ranch delivers some top notch barbeque. My fans will be very pleased to know this is a tremendous establishment.
As someone whose strict diet requires him to eat barbeque at least once per month, I'm beyond relieved that a 5-star BBQ spot opened on this stretch of Wilshire (previously the only BBQ was the McRib at McDonald's, and my doctor says that my body can't handle another case of cholera). The spinach artichoke dip, baby back ribs, tri tip, and brisket are all top notch. The meat from the ribs was incredibly tender and slid off the bone, the brisket had a beautiful crisp finish to the outside, but the real standout was the tri tip- a perfect wedding of juicy, marbled, savory meat with lightly sweet (but not overwhelming) barbeque sauce. Of all the food we ordered, the only thing we really could have done without was the order of Buffalo wings.
The sides offer a delectable treat that complement but don't overpower the main attraction that is the meat. I've received word from a few thousand fans that they'd like a power ranking of sides, so I will oblige:
French fries Cole slaw Roasted corn Mac N Cheese Beans
I'm also happy to report that ambience really adds to the dining experience. With its dim lights and modern indie/pop music, the upscale yet comfortable vibe is a welcome addition to the Brentwood dining scene.
Overall, I couldn't have been happier with the food and service at Wood Ranch. I doubt that even True American Hero Guy Fieri could have designed a better barbeque...
Read morei have been a fan of wood ranch forever, ever since the 90s when i worked at countrywide and they used to cater company events for us. i remember their baked beans, their tri tip and their peanut coleslaw. and their rolls!
years later, i still go to the agoura location whenever i am in the area, and in the past all frequented the locations in northridge and at the grove, which has since closed.
imagine my surprise and delight when i found out that wood ranch took over the old bandera space on wilshire and barrington, which is close to where i live. bandera was great, but wood ranch is a worthy replacement!
i don't know if i agree with some of the other reviews on yelip in saying that the food isn't up to snuff. obviously it's a new location and some things are gonna have to be worked out in terms of logistics and order flow, but the food was every bit as good as the agoura location and the other locations i have been to. the tri tip was amazing, and the beans and the loaded mashed potatoes were up to snuff. i was absolutely satisfied with the experience.
i am definitely gonna be a...
Read moreWe had a horrible experience at Wood Ranch. We were a party of 4 at 7 pm on a Saturday night. When we arrived at our booth and sat down, the table was wet. Obviously not wiped down properly. So we all had to go the bathroom to wash our hands. When we ordered cocktails, the waiter knew nothing about what brands of alcohol they had and had to run to the bar three times to ask. We did not order appetizers, and the waiter was visibly upset. It took nearly an hour to get the drinks. Inexcusable. The waiter never came to check on us. We had to go find him twice. One of the dishes was not prepared as requested. The food portions were really disappointing, especially given their high prices. $28 for a piece of salmon 4 inches by two inches long and a tiny baked potato. The waiter actually did visit our table once, when we were in the middle of eating, and tried to take our dessert order, which we found very rude. Later, the waiter became upset again when we asked for the check and did not order dessert. A really poorly run over-priced restaurant staffed by amateurs. They...
