I hate to write horrible reviews. As a matter of fact, I think this may be only the second truly bad one I've ever written.
But by gosh. This place is really not good. They seem to have good intentions, but no experience.
I would like to say that the staff was absolutely wonderful. No sarcasm. They really were. Sweet and helpful. Charming and attentive.
Interesting to start here, actually. Our server was truly fantastic, but I couldn't help but notice that she never asked how the food was, "Everything tasting good?!" You know how it goes. They always do this... in any other place.
This place has only been open about a month or so as I write this, but these servers must have already learned their lesson -- the hard way -- and have decided to set aside the traditional "How is everything?"
Steaks appeared to be from Ralph's, and were not cooked to the correct temperature. It's. A. Steak. House. Reportedly.
Quinoa salad was bizarre. I think there was a bit of quinoa sprinkled in it... a tad.... but the rest was trying too hard. Like a gradeschool boy's first kiss. A well meaning train wreck.
Risotto. I don't know what to say.... Rice Crispies? My italian grandmother has committed suicide in her grave.
Asparagus. A potato peeler seemed to be involved in a perfunctory way for some reason. What was remarkable was that they seemed both over and under cooked simtaneously. They were stringy and seemed to have had all of the flavor stringently boiled out of them.
Potatoes au gratin. Funny I remember now that the server actually said "Oh! Those are actually really good!" I should have had my wits about me when she said that and just run out the door. But... greasy. Too much oil. Somehow soggy and raw at the same time.
The atmosphere. It felt like a converted hallway of a dentist's office. The lighting was a bizarre color. My date -- who is absolutely stunning -- appeared to be a grey corpse. But at least we had the rave music blaring. I actually asked the server if they had any Molly available. No. I'm not kidding. I actually did. She laughed. We asked if the music could be changed, since it felt less like a fine dining experience and more like waiting in line at an amusement park. She said "Sure!!" It seemed like she was genuinely elated that someone had FINALLY asked. But alas, after an extensive meeting in the corner with some colleagues waving arms around, she returned with bad news: "Sorry. It's the owners personal Playlist. I can't change it". It looked like she could just cry.
I guess it's really all about good taste when it comes to a restaurant.
Well... at least it only cost me $240. (Don't worry I tipped very well -- really did. Wasn't...
Read moreSome of these reviews are from years ago when it was owned by a completely different restaurant đ I feel bad for Pita Cafe to still have them affect their ratings. Feel even worse for the people complaining about the prices or food because each of the 3 times Iâve been there the things I ordered have been fantastic. If youâre complaining about the price for a wrap and fries maybe you shouldnât try being cheap in Brentwood? For the same price at the same restaurant you could have purchased a huge bowl with an amazing salad+rice+meat+hummus. But no, you chose to get the fries and a sad little burrito wrap. You give poor ratings because you make bad decisions? At least complain about the food quality or how long you had to tend to your outhouse that night, not waste peopleâs time explaining to people how indecisive you are because you fear change and lack the patience to read the full menu. I saw other people saying they didnât like what was on the TV there or the the music at the restaurant, perhaps you guys should invest in some headphones? Or just stay home and order from DoorDash đ Keep the reviews food related, maybe share some pictures, so others can actually understand what they can expect from their proportionate servings and drinks.
This place seems to follow every request and need I have asked. You donât like onions? Say no onions. You donât want soggy fries/meat say well done. Itâs pretty simple. That is if you have ever been to anywhere else besides in n out burger and their 3 options. Yet even they have a secret menu with many alternative options to choose how you want your slop served.
Sorry for the long review, Iâm a little hangry and need me a...
Read moreThis was my first time here. My family brought me here, and they too wanted to try it out. This is located in Brentwood. There is some free parking associated with this restaurant behind it. Read the signs. Today is Tuesday, and we arrived around 4 pm, during happy hour. Our server was awesome. Shoutout to Maria. She was awesome and thorough. Love the vibe//atmosphere here. The other staff members were also kind and on it! There are some TVs mounted by the bar. We ordered calamari, soup of the day, and wings to start. The calamari was good. The soup was a little salty for my family member, and the lemon pepper chicken would have probably tasted better with some lemon squeezed on it, but it is not heavy on the batter which I prefer. They have other sauces. I really enjoyed my falafel plate with my two sides, fries and salad. The shrimp kabob was said to be good and the gyro plate. Loved the baklava. We shared it with three people just to taste after eating. It was good and not too sweet. Definitely enjoyed my double espresso. So good. They have bathrooms, one person at a time. They have a bar, obviously.l, bit I only ordered wine. I hope...
