My husband and I went last Saturday night to Buckets (July 23, 2022) at 7pm. Probably a very busy time, however we were seated as soon as we entered. We were sitting at the tall tables by the bar. My husband ordered fried catfish and fries. I ordered grilled shrimp and corn and potatoes for my side. The menu said it was ok for your side and the waitress confirmed it. The waitress came around pretty quickly and took our drink order which was only water and I had tea. A different waitress brought my husband his catfish after not very long. She was holding another plate and asked if it was mine. It was totally something else so I said no and she said she would tell my waitress. I said ok. I saw her go to our waitress and she immediately started typing it into the computer. We were right beside the bar and computer. I waited and waited. No food came. The waitress never said anything and seemed to be trying to not look at us and avoid us. I was about to get up and go ask but she was at the table next to us and I waved and practically stood up and she came. I asked if she had forgotten about me and she said no that it would be there shortly and she would check on it. She resumed avoiding us for at least 30 more minutes. She finally brought me a plate and it was the wrong thing. She said to keep it and she would go get me the correct order. That would mean waiting another 30 minutes and all I have is the wrong thing to eat I was really hungry!!! I told her never mind take it off our bill. She said OK and left. My husband by this time was upset and couldn't eat either. We wanted to leave but we couldn't find our waitress. She was totally avoiding us. I had to stand up and flag her down. We asked for the check it took at least another 15 to 20 minutes for that. I gave her 10% tip but she deserved none. I wasn't even mad just starving and frustrated. IF SHE HAD JUST APOLOGIZED I WOULD HAVE GIVEN HER A REGULAR TIP AND FORGOTTEN ABOUT IT! At first it may not have been her fault, she should have asked me what I ordered instead of trying to remember and avoiding us. AND JUST APOLOGIZE all I wanted was...
Read moreYum, yum, yum! I've visited twice. Once last year during Covid when all food was to-go. I had the pleasure of coming back today, it was so yummy today.
You wouldn't think somewhere so far from the coast would have good fried oysters but they are good, made even better by yummy tartar sauce. My teenage son went for the same thing he had last time too, Seafood Monica. It was my husband's first time going. He suspected we were hyping it up too much. (Even I wondered if it was going to me as good as we remembered or if it was just so good last time for real food after driving many hours and getting it when so few choices were available. Thankfully it even exceeded my expectations and rememberance.) My husband got the catfish poboy. It was a little odd to get all the fixings in a container and you dress it yourself. But he said the bread was amazing. Noting seemed to compare to the pull-apart potatoes for him though. They are small red potatoes that are boiled like a crawfish boil, then cut and fried. He said this was now in his top 5 restaurants. Our appetizer both times was the fried mushrooms. They don't have a traditional breading on them, but rather it's an even better than normal breading that you can tell is made in house.
I find the prices very reasonable. Many of their meals come with the slaw bar, it is mostly coleslaw and then a spot you can load up on all your sauces. (Again don't miss out on the tartar sauce, the romolade sauce is good too.)
The staff was very nice both times. The bathrooms were clean.
Overall very happy with them!!!
My only issue is I prefer the route home through Monroe and down 61. But now with 2/2 great meals and other family members knowing about this hidden gem of a restaurant it looks like our new route back home will have to be passing through here and then going down 49. A good problem to have and worth it for a...
Read moreMy husband and I tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago after our friends telling us we needed to go here for years.
Be prepared to wait, because this place is always busy, and after our first dining experience, it's easy to see why.
Our waitress was named Misty and she was one of the best waitresses we've ever had the priveledge of being served by.
The food: absolutely phenomenal.
My husband got the "Build Your Own Platter", our daughter got the kid's catfish plate, and I got 3lbs of crawfish with corn and potatoes.
Whomever they have boiling the crawfish sure knows what they're doing, because they were cooked and seasoned to perfection.
My daughter inhaled her catfish plate, as my husband also did with his seafood platter. And I promise, I would've eaten my crawfish faster if I only knew how.
As blasphemous at it is for a southern woman to admit, I'm not too keen on Catfish. But y'all...the catfish here is dynamite.
My husband and daughter were both kind enough to let me try a hush puppy or two, and they did not disappoint.
Everything we tried around the table, was some of, if not, the BEST seafood we've had in the Alex/Pineville area.
The long wait we've experienced on a Friday night (typically 45 minutes - an hour at 630/7pm) is well worth it when traded for the out-of-this-world food and attentive, friendly staff that accompanies the establishment.
10/10 would recommend trying this spot at least once. I promise, you'll understand all the hype and make this your go-to seafood joint for the...
