Cafe du Monde is an absolute must-visit for anyone traveling to New Orleans! Steeped in history and charm, this iconic cafe captures the spirit of the French Quarter with every bite and sip.
The beignets are nothing short of legendary—pillowy, golden perfection dusted with an avalanche of powdered sugar. They’re served fresh and warm, making each bite an indulgent treat that melts in your mouth. Pair them with their signature chicory coffee, which has a smooth, rich flavor with just the right amount of bitterness to balance the sweetness of the beignets.
The open-air atmosphere adds to the charm, whether you’re people-watching or enjoying the sounds of nearby street musicians. It’s a place where you can truly soak in the vibrant energy of New Orleans.
While it’s often bustling with visitors, the service is quick, and the experience is well worth the wait. Whether you’re starting your day, taking a midday break, or satisfying a late-night craving, Cafe du Monde is a destination you’ll want to visit again and again. Five stars for the ultimate...
Read moreToo damn expensive. We paid $8.94 for the tiniest cup of coffee and cup of hot chocolate, and 3 beignets. The cups are kid sized and for 3 donuts. I've lived in New Orleans all my life except the last 3 years. I never get coffee, my wife does, but I knew 1 order was like 50 cents for an order of beignets in the 90's, but now it's $2.73! Yes, I now years have passed, but that's a big difference. And the cost of coffee and a cup of chocolate is way too much. This is the same reason why I don't go to Starbucks. Not a coffee drinker anyway. And if I were, I'd just hit up a gas station foe some Community Coffee. Keep it local. This place is way too expensive for way too little. Even the guy at the window said, "Y'all keep coming back." Well, not me. I know Cafe Du Monde is a staple of New Orleans but they are more for tourist. They should do a 20% locals discount or something like that. Until then,...
Read moreOh my! That was my first thought when I walked into the cafe. Napkins and powdered sugar littered the floor. 9/18 tables empty but not bused. Empty tables were filthy. Not a single employee out of the 9 behind the counter cleaning tables. Do yourself a favor and don’t look up either. As we stepped up to order...an employee was sweeping powdered sugar off the floor in the back. He sneezed 5 times. No mask, no attempt to cover his nose and mouth, just let it spray all over. Yet we still decided to order because we had been told they were the best in LA. Ours came out quick and from an area not near Sneezy. They were buried under a mountain of powdered sugar and were rubbery. No taste other than the sugar. How this place got its ratings of 4.5 stars is beyond me. We felt sticky and filmy when we left and not from pastries. ...
