My husband and I stopped in for a bite for lunch today. When we arrived, there were three then four people at the front lectern/host stand. This many people can be quite intimidating for any customers. They attempted to seat us at the bar, which we declined. We were then told we’d have to wait 5-10 minutes for a table. We waited and were sat a few minutes later. We sat in a booth by the kitchen for (at least) 10-15 minutes before being acknowledged. The server passed by us several times before stating she didn’t know we were here table and apologized. This is hard to believe since these were the only four tables set in a square right by each other. I tried not to hold that against her, but we should’ve been at least acknowledged. She did apologize and we proceeded to place our drink, appetizer, and entree order. A few minutes later I was told they were out of strawberry so a strawberry margarita was not an option. I then selected a midori sour. About 7 minutes later my drink arrived. A few minutes after that my husband’s drink arrived. I do not know why they didn’t arrive together. About 35-45 minutes later our appetizers arrived. We are now about an hour in and I ask the server if our entree was being made, if not, I asked if we could just have another appetizer instead. She came back and said it hadn’t been started yet. Shocked, I asked if she’d put the appetizer in to replace the seafood platter. She hadn’t put it in nor did she tell the kitchen, nor did she consult a manager. I proceeded to ask why it wasn’t put in and I was told because the ticket would be going in after all the customers who arrived after me, so I’d have to wait longer. I then state that it should be going in the seafood platters place and she said that’s not how it worked. I disagreed and the waitress insisted that is the way it worked. I then requested for the check and left. I am quite disappointed and appalled. Prior to walking out of the door, I looked for a manager, but didn’t see one at any point of my visit.

I have not heard from anyone from Don’s Seafood since their response two days ago. I sent an email with my contact information. I’m beginning to believe the standard response was meant to give the impression Don’s truly cares about their...
Read moreWhere do I start? The food was so horrible that it forced me to write this review in the car, on the way home. The portions of food did NOT meet our expectations. The size of the oysters were ridiculously small, and there were more fries on the plate than actual seafood. We frequent seafood restaurants often, therefore, when we order seafood platters, we expect seafood to be running off the plate. $32 for a plate of fries is absurd! The fish was smaller than my pinky finger to the palm of my hand. There were literally 3 shrimp on the plate (tail still on) and 2 oysters. I am extremely disappointed! My family members are extremely disappointed. Especially for the price. I’ve lived in New Orleans my entire life, and yes, I understand Dons isn’t located in New Orleans, but you would think a “seafood” restaurant would understand the concept of great seafood and have an idea of what a seafood platter looks like! When we order seafood platters at other local restaurants, the seafood is running off the plates. Enough to feed 2-3 people. This was more of a kids platter to say the least. My family was a bit apprehensive about trying this place and some even suggested not going because of their bad experiences in the past. But because they hadn’t visited in a while, they only hoped the food had gotten better- but boy, were we disappointed! This is horrible and this restaurant should be ashamed! There was no Crawfish in my brothers etoufee and my sisters loader baked potatoe only had hard melted cheese on it- far from loaded. If you’re a visitor to New Orleans, Metairie or surrounding areas, don’t waste your time or money. You’ll be very disappointed. Try Acme , or even Copeland’s for a cheaper price. But Louisiana Food and Sprits or Deanies is far better options &...
Read morePrior to COVID, I’d been a regular patron at this location. However, I visited back in July & although I’d been pleasantly surprised to see all of the major improvements made to the restaurant decor, the food fell extremely short; in fact, both the food and drinks ordered by myself & guest were far from what enticed us to frequent the many times as we’d done before. The seafood spinach dip had roughly 1-2 shrimp in it so it really seemed more like a regular dip. Also, the seafood platters were terribly overpriced for the portions served. Another mishap was due to the fact that the shrimp were not fresh. They tasted very much like what one would buy from Long John Silvers — yuck! Lastly, there was an issue with seating. I’d been advised that outdoor seating was not available for myself and guest. However, perhaps 15-20 minutes into our dining experience, two guests were seated outside, and when asked if we could relocate to an outside table, we were advised that those guests who arrived shortly thereafter seated themselves. So apparently self-seating is very much so an option. Overall, the food and dining experience fell way below the threshold we’d become accustomed to historically, and both myself and guest agreed that it’d be our last time ever going to this particular location. Perhaps there’s been a change in management that’s promoted the decline in food taste and dining experience. I’d recommend several other places to eat over Don’s any day...
