Carretas Grill — Restaurant in Louisiana

My family thought it would be a great Idea for me to have a meal at a Mexican restaurant since my birthday is on May 5. When we arrived they was packed and had live music and dancing outside. We was told it would be a twenty minute wait. When we was seat, we was seated next to the bathrooms. I swallow my pride and sat there. My wife saw this worker there given out hats and told him that it was my birthday can we get one. His reply was that those was children hats and he will bring some adults hats out later. We ordered drinks and ate. My meal really sucks. I ordered the fried burrito with no rice. It was the size or a beignet. Cut it open and a few pieces of chopped chicken was in it. I didn’t really complain because my waitress wasn’t around long enough to assist. My family wanted me to send it back and get something else but I didn’t won’t to eat anything out of that restaurant. They ate and we left. We sat there and watch the man with the hats walk pass our table 5 times with his hands full of hat to only never even look our direction. We was willing to pay for it. Carreta's of Slidell is awesome! It's in the perfect location since I come from MS and like to visit frequently. No reservations needed. Lots of authentic decor to look at, perfect for family outing's, night with the girls or date night! The parking is a bit tight but that is to be expected on a busy weekend when everyone knows Carreta's is the place to be. I am a Fajita girl and I while I love my local Mexican la casa. I have to say Carreta's beats all Fajita's I've ever had! Perfect combo of seasonings, veggies and meat. The portions are enough to feed the family!! But I won't lie I am stingy and save my left overs for home :-) I pair my Fajita's with cheese dip, and a amazing margarita! The waiters are very friendly with their funny banter, recommendations and quick to make sure you have everything you need and are one happy mammaCITA!! I have to say I just love this place!
