We ordered to-go so hubby actually got off to pick it up. I ordered the yellow chicken and plantain, for myself. It was great! The chicken was definitely NOT yellow so maybe they should consider renaming this plate to "yellow rice with chicken and plantain". This would make more sense since only the rice was yellow. It is very mild so I added tapatio to it and it was delicious. I got the ham and cheese sandwich for my kiddos and my husband got the midnight sandwich. I got a bite of both and didnt really like either. Both sandwiches seemed to be iron-pressed so they were a bit crunchy on the outside. As for the ham and cheese sandwich, im not sure what other flavoring they put in it but it didnt taste like just ham and cheese. It also looked like it had american cheese (i never buy american cheese because i feel like its fake cheese). That being said, my kiddos loved it. They ate it all up. But then again, this was after 2 hrs of swimming and I know everything always tastes better after a swim. The midnight sandwich had pickles mixed in it. My husband noticed them quick because he hates pickles. Why did he order the midnight without pickles?? Because the online menu doesnt have any descriptions of sandwiches. All they have are names which is not very helpful. Its not like "midnight" gives you any clues of what it could be. Anyways, he didnt enjoy the sandwich. When i took a bite i didnt like it, either, and I like pickles straight from the jar. Thats all I could taste in the sandwich, the pickles, and it wasnt great. Im not sure how much food i'd actually buy here so i'd be a little hesitant to go back. The online menu is very vague [not sure if the in-store menu is any better]. And why not order when we get there?? Because my in-law says they take, what seems like, forever to make your order so its a place you'd want to order ahead of time. And i guess its true because we ordered at least 15mins before we picked it up and we still ended up waiting once we got there. Overall, im not convinced to go back and try this place, again, because there are more negatives than...
Read moreI drove 15 minutes to this dump because I thought it might have decent Cuban food. Walked in and sat down. The old man just stared at me for five full minutes. There are multiple other reviews about this guy being disrespectful to customers when they walk in. Never took my order. Never said hello. I eventually walked out. If you don't want my money because I'm a white guy then I'll go spend it somewhere else. You can see another reviews that he treats Latin people one way and everyone else a different way. There are so many other places in New orleans. I guess they don't like the white guy going in to order ethnic food. Or they're just lazy and don't want to help. Either way, this isn't the only Cuban place in New orleans. It's just the only one I won't return to.
Notice how 90% of the positive reviews are from people who are latin, most likely cuban. That just shows that they don't treat other races and...
Read moreApproximately 7 minutes after we sat ourselves, an older lady approached us and began to make jokes to the point we couldn’t even focus on reading the menu. She left us the order pad with a pen and did not take even our drink order. Maybe 15 minutes after that, a man came to take our order and even seemed surprised that we hadn’t ordered our drinks yet. When we finally got the food, the milkshakes we ordered were terrible, and the food (like someone else said) was extremely overpriced for the quality of it. It would’ve been okay if the service was excellent and the food mediocre, or the food excellent and service poor, but it’s not a good mix to have...
